Re: Films to watch while isolating

GCN+ is discounted until the end of this month for £20 for the year. There are quite a few cycling adventure documentaries on it. Mark Beaumont's 80 days round the world, bikepacking in patagonia, bikepacking in colombia etc. You can also watch racing live or catch-up. You can watch via the website ...

Re: Am I missing something?

They probably have a daytime mode. I have lights which are either in 'off', 'on' or 'daytime' mode. 'On' mode means that they are not lit up when it is daylight but when it gets dark or I go through a tunnel, they illuminate. They also light up when I brake. 'Daytime' mode means they are on all the ...

Re: Spare derailleur hanger

Thanks for your responses. I checked all those sites listed (and more I found) but they don't stock either the OEM hanger or the replica. Genesis pointed me to their stockists which don't have any in stock and have no idea when it might next come into stock. I was getting desperate. Luckily I contac...

Spare derailleur hanger

Hi, I'm having an issue sourcing a spare derailleur hanger for my Genesis Croix De Fer. The OEM part seems to be out of stock everywhere and discontinued. I've scoured the net high and low. I've also tried Wheels Mgmt and other sites to see if they sell a replica but they do not. Any advise apprecia...

Re: Meth Stove / Cooking Best Practices

I've not used the 22g stove, my wife has the 8g and I use a homemade beer can stove (cheapskate!). A bloom time of two minutes seems very long, 30-60 seconds would be more normal. The long time to bloom might be due to no pre-warming of stove and fuel. Yes I reckon it was due to not pre-warming and...

Meth Stove / Cooking Best Practices

Hi, Looking for some advice on best practice when using Stu's 22g meth stove. Sorry for the complete noddy questions, I am new to using meth stoves. I have had a 'play' with the stove at home and managed to get 500ml of water boiling in about 6 minutes from lighting. I waited 2 minute for it to bloo...

Re: Black Friday deals

Yeah I wasn't sure if it was best to get a down one or the synthetic one. There is 110g in it. The down one is 2.5x more expensive and not good damp.

Love the trips on your blog, very inspiring. He would love the idea of going abroad and riding. Think I'll start with something closer to home for our first trip.

Re: First bikepacking trip

Thank you, yes I thought about plotting a route and incorporating the flitch way. Staying near to home is probably a good shout for the first trip. Noddy question - how do I find where to camp? Should I just look for campsites in Essex and book in for the night?

Re: First bikepacking trip

Thanks for your help. Suffolk looks lovely. I don't mind if we have to travel a bit first, adds to the adventure. Although there is something to be said about just riding from the front door too.

Think I would prefer the majority to be off-road.

I'm in Billericay which is near to Chelmsford.

First bikepacking trip

Hello, I'm new here and looking for advice on a route to take for my first bikepacking trip. In my mind, I imagine a 1 to 2 night trip with my son who is 14. I plan to go in the warmer weather so April/May time and ride a pretty trail with some stunning scenery. We will camp in a 2 person tent and c...
