Re: Real Ale Wobble

We used to do it every year and from memory you got 4 half pint tokens.. Quality of the beer varied, but there was usually some good stuff on in the pubs in the evening as it was always timed to coincide with the local beer festival. Just don't get me started on the band that used to play eve...

Re: Tidenham tunnel, Wintours Leap and Route 4 (ish)

Great photos! 4th from the left (with a black & white dog  ) is my friend Annabelle, small world!! Wow, that is a small world. My little lad (with my better half and one of our other little lads) is second from left. Was really nice to meet the rest of the litter and their owners. Lots of...

Re: Tidenham tunnel, Wintours Leap and Route 4 (ish)

I first saw that on my phone, and thought that you had done well to get to The Great Ledge on North Wall with a bike... Rather relieved to see that you were in the quarry ! Ha, yep. It's been a while since I last climbed there so the original plan was to scramble down to a suitable ledge - but on i...

Tidenham tunnel, Wintours Leap and Route 4 (ish)

After a cracking weekend in the Gower a few weeks back, I thought I'd keep the momentum going by riding home from our pup's reunion barbecue (we had a meet up at the farm he came from so he could play with his siblings and get disapproving looks from his mum).. https://images2.imgbox.com/23/bb/Mv5so...

Re: Gower July 24th?

As probably the first person to get home, can I just say - that was rubbish.. No mud. No thunderstorms. No wind. No punctures. No mechancals. No angry farmers. No midnight bivvy aggro... We barely even got lost ffs.. Honestly. If I'd wanted to ride gloriously dusty trails in the sun with nice people...

Re: Soooooo far OT - non / low alcohol beers

We're usually alcohol free during the week so have tried lots of AF beers. Flat Tyre lager is decent, but then I also like the Punk AF Brewdog stuff so our tastes may not be aligned.. Used to drink Erdinger but find it a bit too malty now.

Transcambrian? More of an easy three days* than three nights (if you know what I mean) but easy to extend a bit. If you've never been to that neck of the woods it is quite wild and amazing..

Re: camper van bike storage ?

I've converted a few over the years. My old T5 initially had a home made wooden framed bed (worked as a sofa when upright) that was designed to have enough space underneath for a white water kayak or two mountain bikes. Was good but couldn't carry passengers in the back. Also a bit close tot he ceil...

Re: Riding with a camera

I loved the CCS kit. Started using them in the 80’s, it’s a pity no one produces simple padded holsters like that any more. Yeah, progress is not always for the better  The Lowe Pro cases and similar things I've picked up over the years are fine and I like the built in rain guards and little ...

Re: Riding with a camera

I've been carrying big cameras on bikes and up mountains for years, though I have pretty much stopped carrying an SLR anywhere now mirrorless cameras have got so good. Quick access was always the number one priority for me, so I usually strapped a case (CCS Warthog in the photo below , but I have a ...

Re: Something for the coffee snobs.

Cheers! Some good info there. I'm down in South Wales (just north of Cardiff) so there are a few local places that I've tried over the years. Always good to have more options though. Might look into a subscription type deal as we definitely drink enough to make it worthwhile. It's that or buy a roas...

Re: Similar to Exposure, but not... is there such a thing?

I have a Toro and Joystick, both ages old (at least 8 years plus I think) and both still work well. I've had to send the Toro back due to a wiring fault once and it was fixed and returned quickly for free. I also cross threaded a few flash/flare commuter lights which the guys gave me some spare part...

Re: Something for the coffee snobs.

Perfect - thanks. I'll definitely check some of those out. :-bd And I'm with you on the volume front. I've always drunk a lot of coffee, but during lockdown we seem to be going through roughly 3kg of beans a month! That is with me and the wife both working from home/drinking the stuff constantly, bu...

Re: Something for the coffee snobs.

So, a relevant question for folk on this thread hopefully - where do you get your coffee from at the moment? I've been drinking a lot from here: https://baycoffeeroasters.com/ during lockdown. The egyptian Sadamo especially is a lovely drink, as is their Columbian.. but it's always good to try somet...

Re: Nighttime riding, fear and loathing.

I've always loved night riding, ever since my first go on a night lap at Mountain Mayhem in Sandwell Park - must have been around 2001? I used a Petzl headtorch (with the big square battery on the back) gaffer taped to my helmet. It was crap at full power and I had to stop and change the very expens...

Matt, where have u found the recycled papers from? I generally bin the grinds but take the papers to a bin with rest of my rubbish. I think I got them off Amazon (other society crushing global behemoths are available) was a few years ago though cos I bought a box of 1,000.... The packaging left on ...
