Re: Another sleeping bag query ........ sorry

Just checked and it is the Pipedream 400 I've got, so that's a first hand review. Warmth wise it does me for most of the year (so fair to say 3 season), I'm a warm sleeper and tend to have it in a bivvy bag which adds a bit of insultation, but I've woken up covered in frost a few times and been plen...

Re: Something for the coffee snobs.

If you hunt round you can find non-bleached/recycled paper filters. If you tip the coffee grounds out on the floor, then you can squish up the remaining soggy paper to almost nothing, easy to pack out or if you have to chuck them I reckon they would biodegrade basically while you watch..!

Re: Another sleeping bag query ........ sorry

I've got the long version of one of the Alpkit bags (it's a mid weight down, not sure of the model). I was pleasantly surprised. The extra length is great for avoiding cold feet, and the thing overall is light but well made with hydrophobic down and water repellent outer shell. Not as robust as my R...

Re: Something for the coffee snobs.

:-bd well I'm in possession of a ortlieb coffee dripper thingy now and I can say its bloody fab. Used it in Scotland this week and what with my fresh coffee in the mornings what could be better than sat by a loch in -2 degrees at 7am  Good stuff! Short of carrying an espresso machine and a ge...

Re: Suggest a backpack

I've got a Henty Enduro pack - used it on this year's WRT as it happens.. I like it a lot for day to day riding when you're not carrying much, and I like it when I need an easy way to carry water and a few tools etc on my back while bikepacking, as I prefer to have everything else on the bike - but ...

Re: Offa's Bike - Done

Just been looking through the route for this so great to read some feedback, It's definitely on the list for next year (god knows I need something to look forward to now Cardiff is locked down again..). Most of the southern half is familiar territory (and I can certainly understand missing out that ...

Re: The Hobbit's Tale

To be honest, while Dave did his best to weave in lots of proper riding (unlike the guy who took the world record after him - by riding around a football pitch... ) it is still a route designed to get you up the country and back down again without being completely unattainable. If you are jus...

Re: The Hobbit's Tale

That certainly looks like the route for the Hobbit's Tale as I remember it. I and some others had the pleasure of chasing Dave and taking photos while he did it...and picking him out of a bush near Llyn Brianne when he fell asleep briefly on the way back... Worth noting that the route for the WC2C a...

Re: Something for the coffee snobs.

Does this solve the problem if you've drunk too much coffee too? Asking for a friend... It would be a short term solution at best...in either case you have to be quick to avoid getting it all over your hands.. Been looking for one of those ortlieb coffee drips for ages cant find them a...

Re: Something for the coffee snobs.

Just to resurrect this thread - cos I've just been sorting out my brewkit for an overnight tomorrow... I've got one of these Ortlieb filter holders. Weighs about 25g and can balanced with a couple of tent pegs or sticks over a mug to make a proper V60 style pourover coffee. The main advantage over s...

South from Llyn Fach, Rhigos

Hi folks, Has anyone ridden south from Llyn Fach (basically where the Fire Tower is marked on route 47) in the Rhigos to join up with the bridleway's further south? ~You used to be able to spin down the forest roads with no bother, but with all the windfarm development in the last few years I was wo...
