OT: On-One Pompino (Fixie) Large

I have scratched my fixie itch so selling this to make space. A lovely bike in great condition, only a couple of tiny marks. Comes with SPDs and mudguards inc rear light. It’s mostly standard kit with some nice extras, large frame in striking blue and red. Set up with a 48T ring and either 20 or 21 ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

I headed out on Sunday night to somewhere local that has been on my bivvy list for a while, it’s got a great view over town and the Xmas lights. It was the turn of the fixie for my final BAM, fun to ride and also the lightest to carry up the hill! It was pretty windy so I circled around looking for ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

I wobbled away from the pub on Friday night with the intent of ticking off a goal of mine, a Brompton BAM. A few ciders ensured I wasn’t too picky. The storm meant I had to be a little picky! I know a local sports pitch with a pavilion type thing which I was sure I would be able to cower behind for ...

Re: PSA: Montane Prism Jackets

Thanks for the heads up. I've been on the look out for something to replace a very aged and slightly too big Patagonia NanoPuff. I also noticed a Fjern insulated jacket on sale at SportPursuit for £70. Something called Octa® Active Insulation. No idea how this compares to Primaloft. There seems to ...

The Gro guesthouse in Newtown is along these lines, I was in there on Friday night.
At £36 inc breakfast is wasn’t bad, I even had a choice of 3 beds in my sole occupancy family room!
I’d recommend it!

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Glad we don't have to carry our marquees with us. I now think of pub marquees as a kind of canvas bothy. Not to be relied upon but shelter for those in need, and you never know who you might end up sharing it with! is that a vase of flowers I spot on the bedside barrel?! Indeed, there was also a ki...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Headed out for October BAM on Saturday morning. Well, I started then had a coffee, still raining. Made lunch, still raining, fitted new bottom bracket, still raining, booked somewhere to stay on Friday night for BB200, still raining. At around 6pm I realised the pub I was aiming for would stop servi...

Always put your helmet right way up.
Otherwise it will fill with water!
Or if left outside London Waterloo station, it can be filled with vomit… fortunately didn’t happen to me but someone had an uncomfortable ride the other day!

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Managed to convince the Mrs to join me on this months BAM on the condition of a tent being used, we didn’t go far but did take a freshly made curry in a Tupperware. Wrapped in a down jacket it has the double advantage of keeping the food warm and preheating the jacket :-bd Slept well apart from the ...

Decided to treat myself to a ‘comfy’ BAM, headed out close-ish to home with my hammock, pilllow, book, a beer, baguette and Schlossberger (Swiss cheese that doesn’t require refrigeration according to the lady in the deli, perfect for bikepacking!) oh and opinel knife for the rind  Watched the ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Late write up due to job change busy-ness. However, said job change did allow some unexpected leave to be taken at the start of the ‘heatwave’ so I could venture out on a longer trip. I usually enjoy planning a route etc but decided to just head out on the King Alfreds Way which starts locally and t...

I made it round the BB200 last year with an Etrex10 (just shows the route line with no mapping background) so a 22x with maps should see you round fine.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Headed out locally to a spot I’ve had my eye on for a while. Um’ed and ah’ed on the ride out about whether to turn back, felt a few spots of rain and could see what looked like more inbound. I only had my groundsheet and quilt as the forecast was a clear night. I’d also had my first vaccine jab yest...

Prepping for my ride next week, and noticed that the biggest hill in the entire thing doesn't match any of the top five from this weekend's WRT. Silly Southerners with their flat hills. (Yes, I'm fully aware I'm going to regret saying that) I’m local to Winchester, feel free to shout if you n...

I caved and googled it, lemon and lime are combined, fair enough, basically 7UP.

There’s also passion fruit. I’m not sure where I stand on that after the pineapple episode.
