I'd highly recommend the wahoo element roam. Links to kamoot and ride with GPS, loads come up on eBay and has links to a database of base maps.

Re: Steripen Ultralight. Any good?
The new ultralight has a usb rechargeable battery which is either good or bad depending on how you look at it. One of the main reasons for using it is after our recent trip in Jordan we got fed up of all the single use plastic bottles we were guilty of buying. The natural water sources were really s...

Steripen Ultralight. Any good?
I'm fed up of chemical water taste and/ or contributing to the plastic waste issue on longer trips abroad so was thinking of getting a UV filter. Anyone used one?

Re: Wahoo Elemnt Roam V1?
Possibly. Mine was running for over 16 hours and it froze, when I turned it off and on it wouldn't locate via GPS . Fortunately we had a phone to use to get through the last few km and next day it was fine. I have read on other forums that this issue can occur as an irreparable fault but it's rare.

Another for the V1.
It did bonk once on a slightly longer ride but it's performed flawlessly since. I was on an etrex 20 before and this is a much better unit.

Re: Light and small insulated jacket.
I've an OMM windproof plastic bag type thing. It's by far my most used jacket I've got, and doubled with a gilet is usually enough for most warmish weather so I'm really interested in seeing their insulated jackets. I've got a nano puff but was just after something that packs a bit smaller. Or is th...

Light and small insulated jacket.
Just a quick one. I'm after a synthetic jacket that would do for summer camping and early mornings. Ideally one that packs up really small. I've got a really old Patagonia primaloft but it's a bit bulky. We rode some of the dales 300 this weekend and I didn't want my down coat getting wet therefore ...

Are there any units that you can share .gpx files to via bluetooth? I often draw up routes or amend routes on Gia or mapout in the tent and it would be great to be able to ping them across without needing a data connection.

Re: How to.... Take your bike on a plane
Leave the rear wheel on, this saves loads of hassle. Remove mech and chain and cable tie mech safely to chain stay. Remove bars and cable tie to top tube ( pad this with bubble wrap first). If you can get some of the packing and plastic bits that come with new bikes from your LBS that will really he...

Would you change the brake hose?
I'm off to Mexico in December so I'm just servicing the bikes. Seems the outer sheath has rubbed through after a friend lashed the bike to his van.

Just thought I'd update this post. If you are ever around this area and thinking of riding this route then I'd not hesitate. Its brilliant, really varied terrain, great camping, easy resupply. Just brilliant. Its definitely to be ridden clockwise and says 3 days relaxed riding, which it definitely i...

Myself and the boss are off to Marbella to do some construction jobs on her uncles house so we're throwing the bikes in and hoping to get out for a few days. It looks good but any information regarding camping etc would be appreciated.

I like the look of the airchuck. I'll have to practice trying to pop the tyre onto the rim with one, once purchased.

Good C02 inflator.
Off to ride the Baja divide in December and as an addition to the spares kit I thought that a C02 inflator might be handy in case I ever unseat a tyre. In on 3.0 maxxis chronicles and my better half 2.8s. I've never used one but I have had a valve core come out when removing a pump so would prefer a...

I agree, the guy is obviously a mutant and would turn himself inside out regardless of any outside influence. But how does it trickle down into the rest of the field? Oh well. I'd just ride it and leave all that boll@#ks behind. Surely that's part of its ethos.

Re: The 2022 Tour Divide watchers thread.
I've seen a video somewhere with the late Mike Hall explaining his view on the "no support" ethos for the transcontinental. He was pretty clear what he felt it meant, I'm not sure "gramming" yourself and therfore getting various replies giving support would be seen as ok by Mike....

Camping or cheapo accommodation
About 100km per day average. Totally depends on the conditions.
And a circular route preferably as its usualy logistically easier to get home.
