Has anyone ever totally given up...

On fitting a set of tyres? Lovely WTB trail bosses on Stan sentry rims. I’ve taken skin off my palms and thumbs, snapped levers, finally got them on but even the compressor couldn’t get them up to seat on the rim. Tried again tonight but I’m thinking it’s a losing battle. Are some rims and tyres inc...

Re: Schwalbe Aerothan (are they just Tubolito reinvented?)

What’s wrong with the Tubolito? I’m asking as I always carry one as a get out of jail spare. I’ve not used it yet but now I’m worried.

Yes. I’ve not been screwing the pump into valve enough. All sorted now, thanks for the help.

Re: Do you still cycle tour "traditionally"?

Whatever you do, ensure you actually get out and just ride/tour/bike pack. Don’t overthink it, your not racing. Try to ensure you’re comfortable, prepared for getting wet and cold but just enjoy it. If you read too much bolloc#s about weight, kit, bikes etc you’ll constantly think you’ve made bad ch...

Re: Shock pump problem?

Thanks for the help. I’ll give it a go later on. I realised there was an issue after several adjustments to the fork only for it nearly bottom out on relatively easy ground on the last ride.

Re: Check your spare inner tubes

Tubolitos are a good , light if somewhat expensive option. But yes, a regular check is a good idea. I keep mine in a cut off old sock. And the instant patches are shi*e. Ive had several detach, however that was on a fully loaded troll.

Shock pump problem?

I might be wrong here but I’m sure my shock pump is faulty. I have a pair of RockShox forks which require about three pumps to get the gauge up to 85 psi. I take off the pump with a disconcerting hiss of air escape, and they seem as saggy as hell. What’s the normal amount of pumps needed to get them...

Re: Shaky shaky alternaty

Thanks for all the replies. The Outdry stuff seems like the cheapest and most waterproof option. However I cant seem to find any jacket weights on the Website. There are four i can see that would fit the bill but i don't want to buy something that's as heavy as my mountain equipment jacket that i cu...

Shaky shaky alternaty

I’ve searched the forum for alternative lightweight waterproofs to the shakedry but I can’t really say there is a definitive solution that I can see. My wife has one but I can’t afford it and I’m terrible at trashing stuff or losing it. Any recommendations for a summer waterproof that won’t break th...

Re: Dangerous dogs

I’ve generally found that if I’m not in a position to outrun the offending animal then stopping and letting it do it’s barking thing till it gets bored generally works. Failing that, throwing rocks in its general direction or actually chasing it on the bike sometimes has the desired effect . I find ...

Almost too good.
My bull5hit radar is buzzing.
Heck, if genuine I’d buy one for myself.

I know, but will it work I’m wondering?🤔

Re: What GPS unit to get?

This is a good thread as i was just about to plough into the joys of GPS research. The Etrex range look like a good option for myself but is the small screen a real pain? Also if I wanted to purchase a full OS set of maps has anyone any ebay experience of this type of thing? https://www.ebay.co.uk/i...

Yeah, come on people it's waaaay to early in the week to wheel out a panda and besides, I'm now thinking we should perhaps introduce the wearing of braces. I'm sure there's numerous uses for them. :-bd I know, I’m just having a shitty Monday. My braces could be used for lashing a growler to my hand...

I must say 99.99999% of folk I’ve met or ridden with are great. But there’s always one.
So with a less grumpy reply to the OP. I’m going with the old obvious favourite of flappy lumberjack/ plaid shirt.

I forgot, more likely is very rich parents and /or a massive inherited rental portfolio and infinite trust fund. Plus a truckers cap, maybe an obscure band vest, Jean shorts, smug grin. However this is sometimes hard to see behind the massive wizards beard.

Awww. Poor hipsters. I think an arrogant and aloof air of superiority and blatant one-upmanship are more in vogue these days. Especially as these mustachioed twa*s think they invented bike touring/packing.

I’m currently drawn to the Orro Terra , possibly the Carbon model if I can get it on a bike to work scheme. I’ll let you know what I decide but It seems (according to the supposed neutral reviews) it’s good for the road. My current road bike is an Audax type, built up by the LBS about 7 years ago wh...

I like the look of the Bombtrack. Very versatile too. I’ve got two Suriy frames (Troll and a Karate Monkey) so fancied something different, but thanks for the replies. Lots of great stuff to consider.
