Re: Wanted jones loop bar

No stock, tried to buy one yesterday. Places do have the Cinelli Double Trouble in stock but it's 50 quid and 660mm which conforms to the shorter loop bar. I had a go of one at the weekend and liked it but thought the Geoff would give better tuning as its 720mm to start with as per the longer loop b...

rail accessible Doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Class 158's have basically no provision for cycles, the best you can hope for are a couple of ex-catering trolley cupboards. No, that's not an exaggeration. That's your ride from Inverness Northwards. If you're unlucky it's your ride all the way, ...

EDIT: Hmm will look at things. 13mm isn't that much of a chore.

EDITED AGAIN: Looks like I'm no further forward from where I am after plugging figures into a geometry calculator. Will have to pass, sorry!

I take it this is the one up on eBay? What length of stem were you running when it was built, Pipedream say to size up if building with MTB bars and I'm just trying to figure out how much wiggle room I might have.

Re: big fat road/touring tyres ??

From what I've been led to believe Geax/Vittoria Booze Light are excellent for this, they're dirt/street tyres but at about 680g they're great for actual riding. Some stock still exists on ebay and olsenbikes.co.uk, you can get them cheaper in goppin' colours too. Obviously not as sturdy as a Big Ap...

Cheers, that's almost there, now just combine that with a "what's the most inappropriate bike to go bikepacking on" challenge :-bd

Nothing to stop anyone doing this as with the Bromptons.

Re: Locks, for commuting, superlight, strong and reliable...

Closest thing to a D lock apparently and rated to SoldSecureSilver r I think. Given Soldsecure Gold is no measure of quality I dread to think how bad that is if it can't even meet that criteria (which is a very specific test that doesn't use big croppers or cordless grinders IIRC). At the end of th...

Re: Anyone seen Bob's Torque Wrench?

There's not much that will cover the really low torque stuff, Teng 1/4" drives start at 5Nm and go up to 25Nm, that's probably the best £48 you will spend. Halfords wrenches look identical to Norbar (I'm guessing they are made by them) but don't go low enough and smallest is 3/8" anyway. C...

Re: Yet another 'Divide'.

Something along the idea of the Gambler 500 events in the US but with bikes. One central area to congregate then go out and do your own routes during the day. Follow folk and get lost, get out your depth (or at least beyond the reasonable capabilities of whatever you're riding) and just have fun wh...

Re: Yet another 'Divide'.

I'm confused, what's better for grass routes events, a gravel bike or MTB? :???: As far as money for racing goes, it's all relative. Sometimes it's paying for folk's time, sometimes it's funding a club, sometimes it's paying for the infrastructure and, less often than people probably imagine, it's g...

Re: For when you've bought too much int' Spar.

That longtail is actually a damn good design, in theory at least. Looks like you could potentially park it on its arse like a Tern as well.

The hydrofoil looks fun but less so if you fall off I guess.

The skate/scoot/"bike" abomination needs erased from history.

If those aren't the right ones Novatec make the correct adaptors, I have a note of the model somewhere as they fitted my (altogether older and unrelated) Aireal Switch hub.

I have a 9l CO2 extinguisher converted with a schraeder valve where the busting disc was and a proper (garage type) clip on schraeder head on the end of the hose. I only pump it to 40psi and it seats tyres no bother. As said you want volume, not pressure. Think about it, the head goes over the valve...

Sun Ditch Witches, any tyre.

Bloody hateful things, I bought Park steel levers in the end after slicing one too many knuckles open.

I thought I'd won when I sold them on then got another set on a bike a few years later. 10 years on I still have them and they refuse to die.

There's a thread on STW about them, I was fancying a Bridge Club but have been swayed by the fact you can fit a proper 29" tyre on the A.L.I.C.E.

They are also a perfect match for the Thorn biplane forks if that's your thing.

Could you get one of the wall claw types and run it off the existing claw? ie. use your stand to hold the wall claw then use wall claw to hold the top tube or whatever? Or just go cheap and get a pallet with a vertical in the middle, wheels slot into gaps and bike leans against repurposed fence post...

Trespass are selling tons of last seasons kit off for buttons, I got a DLX soft shell for £30 (from £150) and 3 layer jacket for £70(from £230), both 10000mm/5000mvp. Plenty of stock in all sizes from what I can see, it's all online I think as neither Braehead stores had anything I was after.
