Re: Reg 's Crazy World of Lockdown - House of The Rising Sun

I was singing The House of the Rising Sun on karaoke years ago and they switched it off and told me to sit down.

I've got a pair of Love Mud Jekylls with less than 50 miles on them if they'd do you.

Re: Dangerous dogs

As an aside, my ex was bitten by a farm dog when she was pregnant with our first child. Her mother attributed our eldest son's childhood fear of dogs to this incident. The look on my and my ex's faces when she said that could have been used for a WTF? gif.

Ulterior Motive for the BB200?

What other reason could be given for a bunch of unwashed ditch sleepers nosing around the more remote bits of Welsh countryside?

Im also a screwfix safety specs user. I use some DeWalt Indoor/Ourdoor ones OK so there just over a fiver, but the lenses are great for anything between dark shadows between trees to full sunlight I struggle with very dark lenses going from full brightness into shadow but these are pretty good Same...

Re: Sonder Broken Road Owners - Whatcha Reckon?

Thanks very much, there's some great information and pics there. One of the things I was pondering was if it would take 29 x 2.6'' tyres, and that's been definitively answered.

Sonder Broken Road Owners - Whatcha Reckon?

What do Broken Road owners think of them? If my finances survive Covid 19, they're in my top two bikes, fitted with Jones bars and rigid forks. I have a few questions too: What are the biggest 29er tyres that can fit front and rear? How much vertical clearance is there? If you've got rigid forks, wh...

I'm in the process of selling my rucsac mountain. I'm moving house and L keep on finding them and adding them to the pile of stuff that's being sold to fund a new bike. And then there are the jackets...

Re: (Reg's) The Quarry & Shaft Thread

I used to climb with a lad who had an unhealthy interest in dank and hard to find quarries. He was obsessed with finding somewhere to do a new route, ignoring the fact that the reason that there were no climbs in those quarries was because they were damp, loose and had been used a toilet by both hum...

Re: Granguanche Canaries

Anyone enlighten me as to what the weather is likely to be around Nov time? Ta. I can't be specific about November, but I've been there in October and it was lovely. Mid to high 20s on the coast, and it didn't feel much cooler on Teide, but up on the top it was incredibly windy. Once I got off the ...

I like plastic for "on the go" bottles because I can squeeze it, and they definitely have to have a cap over the nozzle.

Re: Gravel Gearing....again

My lowest is a 30/40 combo front/back....yes you spin. But If you can get a fully loaded bike up the hills where I live (Asturias, northern Spain, think Cornwall x snowdonia) you deserve some kind of meddle and probably a knee operation. Yes you could walk, but spinning is more energy efficient and...

From the OS website: Open access land (England & Wales) On our 1:25000 maps for England and Wales, some areas are shaded in yellow. This is open access land and within this area, you are free to roam. On 1:50000 Landranger mapping this is shown with a purple banding which includes symbols to dif...

Re: Ordnance Survey Newsletter

I thought that something odd had happened when I (with hindsight) realised that I'd linked some bridleways with a recreational route on a bike ride that I plotted on the app. It never used to be allowed to plot a bike ride on what is ostensibly a footpath, but I'll check this later.

Re: Ribble Adventure: Any Real World Reviews or Action Pics?
Just read your Q&A Stu - thanks for that... looks like a really interesting frame and I like the beefy gravel bike potential here... so more offroad than road focus and I'd run it 2x XT with Jones Bars off the old 29er. Not seen their Jones copies before either.
That's exactly ...

Re: Ribble Adventure: Any Real World Reviews or Action Pics?

I really think that Ribble are missing a trick here by not sending you a bike for review. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who's reticent about spending a wedge of cash based on a ride around the car park outside their showroom.

Ha ha, I thought not.

I should have been a little more specific. Which of the easily cuttable cable locks is the least bad?

Is There Such a Thing as a Decent, Lightweight Combination Lock?

As per the title really. Is there such a thing as a relatively secure coil type combination lock, or are the expensive ones not much better than the cheapos?

Re: Ribble Adventure: Any Real World Reviews or Action Pics?

Thanks for that. I still have a preference for 29ers, but write ups like that are the kind of thing that makes me think of alternatives.

Cheers, Michael.
