Re: Feckin Lezyne Pumps

. . . I've seated WTB, 2Bliss and Maxxis TLRs with it at the trail side if the rim and tyre are reasonably prepped. Please elaborate on "suitably prepped". I've used diluted washing up liquid or wax based chain lube with varying (seems to depend on the tyre/rim combination) degrees of success. Do y...

Morewood Shova 2006 My own bike is completely stripped awaiting two pivot bearings and set of replacement fork seals. Pic of parts strewn about doesn't really show its full glory, so here's an internet sourced pic instead. Technical info: Two wheels with tyres, lots of black and/or silver bits, grav...

Re: Plastic sheet - material/source?

Ass Savers are 0.8mm polypropylene.
Here's one online source. There's bound to be someone close to you.
Steelexpress, Hindleys, ebay. Signwriters and outdoor advertising companies sometimes use the same.

Re: Jockey wheels

but I’ve always wondered why jockeys have teeth, The teeth ensure that even with some muck in the bearings / bushes, the jockey wheels still turn. Without teeth, in a worst case scenario, the wheels could jam solid. The chain would still run over the stuck wheels but with resultant horrendous wear ...

Re: Todays ride

Not usually an early riser, and definitely not an early morning rider. So no idea what possessed me this morn - perhaps the guilty pleasure of knowing I shouldn't be about. Me and many others, as it transpired. Dog walkers, horse riders, mtb'ers, etc. The woods hereabouts were full of 'miscreants'. ...

Re: BB7s brakes FREE

I received the brakes from Dave this morning, but unfortunately they're not suitable for me. These calipers are the BB7 ROAD version. If you want them, send me a PM with your address. Donation to BB to cover my postage cost of £3 would be appreciated. If you're feeling generous, a further £3 to cove...

No matter how much research was done prior to purchase, nor the expenditure thus incurred, nor the quality of company and comestibles prior to bedding down, nor even the feeling of contentment afforded by all of the above . . . . when the heavens open and muddy water levels rise above the tent batht...

Re: BB7s brakes FREE

Thx Dave.

My current, sadly now deceased, set of BB7s lasted for fifteen years but the Baja and Peru Divides were just too much for them. Sand and mud in Mexico and some of the longest, steepest, sustained descents I've ever encountered, in Peru, cooked them beyond any hope of repair.

Because

1) I want / need / love . . them.

2) I want / need / love . . you.

3) They're free.

In all seriousness, because I have to replace a completely ****** set.

I'd be quite happy to make you a custom set*.

I need your full name and all your financial matters' passwords. Oh yes, and the name of your first-born boy child.

* These may resemble folded cardboard, but don't be fooled.

I may be a 'Silver Fox' in theory but unfortunately more of a 'Grey Galago' in reality.

Don't be shy of sharing your 'no gunshots' stories. Even ants, snakes, drunks, poleece, rains, have their place here ;-)

In truth, if nothing exciting could happen, why do we do it?

Re: I did not sleep well that night.

Wild camping immediately adjacent to a village cemetery in Sardinia, I was woken by . . . . . the very distinctive sound of . . . . shotguns being cocked. What to do? Call out and face the wrath of illegal hunters, or keep shtum and risk being mistaken for something huntable? I chose to shout out, a...

This is a little unfair, some of you silver foxes have more ability to have kit thats old  You may be surprised at the number of youngsters that are deeply involved in retro / vintage gear. Cars, bikes, fashion, electronics (especially Hi-Fi), etc. My 70/80's Thorens, Sugden, KEF, Nakamichi ou...

Oldest bit of kit you own - and still use.

Following on from the HireSquire thread. What's the oldest bit of kit you own - and still use? To get the ball rolling: Whilst over here (I'm South African) on holiday during winter of 1975/6, I bought a Mountain Equipment Fitzroy Jacket and Waistcoat (no gilet nonsense in those days). The waistcoat...
