Re: Castle Douglas
Lots of history accessing that bridge with various debates on whether access rights apply or not. I think it's fine on the basis that you'll likely be across before anyone notices  Friends parents live in the old Parton station and they have been across a few times over the years, without get...

Re: Aviemore to Dalgety Bay
I had thought about the Pictish Trail Sean, but figured I didn't want to go that far East. I need something that I can bosh out over an afternoon, a full day, and a final morning, max. I just picked Aviemore as it seemed like I could link up various trails from there, but I don't mind starting from ...

That's the one. Would be handy in cutting out having to use the A713 to get anywhere else.

Re: Castle Douglas
Thanks both. We're staying at Loch Ken Holiday Park, which is half way up the East side of the loch, but right next to an old railway bridge. Photos on Google maps don't make it clear if it's passible or not, some show people on the bridge, other a big gate with a "Nae Trespassing" sign on...

Aviemore to Dalgety Bay
So, my parents are bribing the kids to come and visit, and muggins here is going to drive them up the road in late August for a week. Rather than sitting around my parents getting board, it would be nice to dump the kids for a couple of days and get a BaM ride in. So, loose plan is to get the train ...

Castle Douglas
So I find myself near Castle Douglas for a week early next month. Planning on taking the gravel bike, but have no idea what there is to ride in that area; it's been decades since I was last in that locality as a child. To the point where I've not ridden a bike in Scotland since the access laws chang...

Re: What are you reading now?
Have finished reading NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and How to Think Smarter About People Who Think Differently by Steve Silberman , which was an amazing read. Made me think slightly differently about my visit to the child phycologist in Primary School aged nine. Have also finished Ultra-Process...

Now on “How they broke Britain” by James O’Brian which is just making me angry Was going to get hold of a copy of it but might not now as don't like being angry. Already got large telly repair bill as a result of throwing heavy objects at it. You are welcome to have mine when finished. Ah thanks Da...

Re: Todays ride
A heavy week last week. 5 hours of ice skating and three bike rides totalling ~210KM; which is more than I've managed in months. I now have, what I hope is just, a stinking head cold.

Re: That Tent Question
I have a Lanshan 1 Pro, it's a condensation generator; I really wanted a Lunar Solo, but the opportunity was too good to pass up. I like the look of the SMD Skyscape Trekker 1P , but the lure of a Dyneema tent is quite high... You might be interested in reading this though - https://theradavist.com/...

Re: Schnozzle to Thermarest Winglock adaptor
This doesn't answer your question at all... I didn't even consider an adapter to get my Schnozzle working with my NeoAir, I just bought a BlockerLite Pump Sack . It annoyingly pops off very easily if you pump too hard, unlike the Schnozzle, but is suitable large and easy to use. However, I don't fee...

Re: BB200 2024
I was quite surprised by a few of the bikes and the narrow tyres choices last year. I fully appreciate that not everyone is able to have a stable of bikes, so you may just have to bring what you have. We've had multiple threads on here about what people think "adventure" cycling is, and ho...

Very cheery! Finally, at the age of 51, my vote has finally elected someone. The placard in the garden, the delivering of leaflets and other bumpf, has finally paid off.
Also off to Sheffield tomorrow morning, to pick up a kitteh!

Re: Gravel Bike Tyres
Pirelli Cinturato M. Close the thread. This... I found GravelKing's were too lightweight and puncture prone as a result, poor show in the wet too. The front would seal OK, but the rear always required plugging; this was with Orange Seal Endurance. They felt fast and were nice and supple, but ...

Re: Happy Monday!
I had a big off on Sunday. Popped into the local minor injuries just to see if I needed a stitch in my eyebrow and before I knew it was strapped down to a board and being transferred to Lancaster Infirmary. CT shows 5 broken vertebrae, so confined to lying flat watching the ceiling for the next 36 ...
