Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Walked out of the ice rink to see a fox slinking along a fence by the entrance. Then while waiting at the traffic lights to get onto the main road, a super floofy owl landed on a fence post, eye balled us for 10 seconds or so, then flow off again. Bloody love owls, so that made me right cheery!

Re: WRT GR's
Does anyone else plan their trips around likely places to sleep? I've got a rough plan for day 1 but that's where my local knowledge dries up. I have in the passed, but didn't last year, which was a mistake. Ended up riding around Hafren for ages trying to find anywhere flat, that was wasn't compac...

Re: WRT GR's
Due to the sub standard hitting the fan at home, I've not really had much of a chance to look at the grid refs and obsess over creating a route. It's not an area I've been to yet, so I'm lacking knowledge of where all the potential re-supply points and what not are. So, are there any SPAR's or other...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Thankfully I decided to head towards Wicken Wild Camping (currently shut) It's a shame that they closed this place  When I phoned them about booking it in December last year, they said they were hoping to open it again later this year. I'm assuming the composting loo needed moving or something...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Top work JudithG! Sounds like a proper adventure. With my daughter out at her girlfriends and my wife out for the evening with a couple of her friends, I was at a loose end. As I'm on-call over the end of the month and with the weather being settled, for a change, I decided to head out for my bivvy....

I think the only thing that should be pointed out, is Reg's penchant for cycling during extreme precipitation... Do we know if Karl has also angered the rain Gods in some way...?

Re: Is this 'bikepacking'?
Bike packing is clearly bike and camping. Removing one ( camping or bike ) means it cannot be bike packing ( how far you go is irrelevant) Not sure that argument stacks up though. If bike packing is named after back packing, then your argument would suggest that to go back packing you must also cam...

Re: Travelling across Europe quickly - how?
As an aside, sharing a drive could work, but what if they talk too much or really annoy me (or vice versa)? I guess I could leave them at some service station in Essex.... Buy a good pair of noise cancelling headphones. I shudder to think about spending 1,500 miles in a car with someone I barely kn...

Since my last update, I've knocked off both of these, which I thought were excellent and inspiring: Other Ways to Win by Lee Craigie Coffee First, Then the World by Jenny Graham I then started to read Disaster Capitalism by Antony Loewenstein , but have had to put it down. I'm now knee deep in: ADHD...

Re: Cranktank 3 vs cages on fork + smartwater bottles
If you have a frame bag, then there's cheaperer options like the Apidura frame pack hydration bladder . I wear a CamelBak Chase with 1.5L reservoir, while I'm not mad keen on wearing it on hot days, it's nice to have the equivalent of a couple of big bottles of water on me. I do occasionally run out...

The arse end of my gravel bike is covered in dried on tyre sealant. It doesn't seem to want to come off with the application of detergent and elbow grease. Anyone got any tips on how to clean it off...?

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
So has anyone studied what looks like an inverse correlation between the time remaining in the month to get in a bivvy, and the likelihood of it being raining? It was absolutely hoofing it down last night; tomorrow is looking rather bad as well. Was thinking about going out tonight, but daughter is...
