Re: BB200 2024
And... I'm oot. Haven't recovered sufficiently from the crash last month. Did a 140KM ride last weekend and could bearly walk at the end of it, and that was East Angular miles, not Welsh hilly miles. My right hip and thigh are sore to the touch after Friday's wander around Duxford IWM, so I've just ...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Cycled through the broads, er, once last summer. Looked nice, if a bit busy.
Cheery Friday here, as I spent the day at Duxford IWM watching various and sundry WWII planes take to the skies ahead of the weekends big air show.

I have a Pro-Build Chosen Hub / Alex Volar Trail Wheel going spare. Bought from Merlin in May 2022 for £115; I set it up tubeless with Tesa tape, it's done around 1,460.7 KM. DM if you want photos, etc.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Headed out this afternoon to get some miles in the legs and tick off the bivvy for the month. As I'm currently sat on my sofa drinking a beer and writing this, rather than being in a ditch, the bivvy bit of the ride was an abject failure. The problems started here: https://media.bobarnott.com/gravel...

I've got a CubeLight II that I used to use before I got an Exposure Blaze. I've had it clipped to the back of my Restrap saddle harness before and it'll fit onto the light fitting on a Decathlon hydration pack too.

Re: Filament Wound Fibreglass Tubing
Why wound Bob? Is that a strength thing or something more technical? I think it's to do with the angle of the winds; strength in all the directions. I think the issue with a standard cloth layup, is you have to do multiple layers, all off set to get the same strength, and it results in a heavier tu...

Re: Filament Wound Fibreglass Tubing
Aluminium not strong enough? Carbon too expensive? Aluminium is generally deemed too dangerous, unless you're going BIG; then you get involved with the CAA for months before you can launch. I'd consider carbon, but it's generally even more spendy than 'glass. But if there was a UK source of filamen...

Re: Filament Wound Fibreglass Tubing
What's it for Bob? Would another material suffice? It's for high power rocketry. The standard is phenolic tubing (or similar), which in the past we've always fibre-glassed for extra durability. I would like to cut out a bucket load of time, faff and cost, but just going straight to fibreglass tubes...

Re: Filament Wound Fibreglass Tubing
Are these folk any good for you? https://rbjplastics.com/standard-profiles/pull-wound.html Sort of, but not quite. The problem with rocketry, is that all the tubes are standardised sizes; you also get couplers tubes to fit etc. Their sizes don't quite match, but that's the kind of thing, I think, t...

Not cycling related, but one of my many other hobbies. I'm looking for some filament wound fibreglass tubing, but am struggling to anyone selling anything suitable via Google. Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
I suppose yesterday was cheery. Drove back from Scotland, but lost 5th gear (and reverse it turns out) just South of Grantham, but made it home without having to call on recovery. No idea if I have any working gears, as it appears on inspection that the car is having a bit of a wee...
