Re: Bob's First Bivvy
I'd also try packing all your sleeping kit (not shelter) together in one bundle, that way, you needn't touch it until you stop, so less chance of it getting wet. I initially thought about trying to get everything sleep related into the handlebar harness dry bag. It became obvious that this wasn't g...

Re: Bob's First Bivvy
Strapped all the luggage to the bike and went for a test ride this morning. Bivvy bag and Thermarest in the handlebr harness, sleeping bag and waterproof jacket in the saddle bag, tools in the frame bag (mostly empty) and some grub in the top tube bag. http://media.bobarnott.com/gravel/2020-01-21-te...

Re: Sonder Camino Al - 700c or 650B?
I'm sure I read something recently that stated 700cx40mm was the ideal wheel and tyre combo for things like The Dirty Kanza and those other US gravel grinder type races. I bought Conti Terra Trail 700cx40mm tyres for my RAG+, they were useless in the December slop on the local byways and bridleways....

Re: Todays ride
108km on very icy roads this morning . Serious type two fun for a few hours till it thawed enough. Rear wheel was all over the place, even while coasting on flat roads it was snapping loose, hideous. http://media.bobarnott.com/gravel/2020-01-19-flooded-road.jpeg Some of the back roads round here ar...

What size of can would you normally use? One of those small 200g sweet corn cans, or one of the small 160ml Coconut Milk cans?

Fitted the cheapo Clement tyres that arrived yesterday. I also discovered that I've dented my rear rim, most likely for clattering that pothole on Sunday morning.

FREE! Galibier Fire Feet 3 Socks
Galibier kindly added a pair of their Fire Feet 3 Socks to my recent order, which was nice. Except they weren't to know that I have size 7½ feet, so they are waaaaaay too big. I though I would spread the love, so first to reply will get these totally free of charge (P&P to a UK address). http://...

Re: Todays ride
Planned a 100 km ride this morning , but road closures, and failure to read road signs, saw me out for an hour longer than planned . My one ride old Wahoo Elemnt turned on, started warming-up , then did a fantastic impersonation of a brick; so it’s going back tomorrow. My weather app told me that t...

Re: Favourite bike of 'all time'?
My Raleigh Super Tuff Burner, which I bought second hand as a student in Aberdeen. Shattered the rear mag wheel trying to bunny hop onto a kerb at slow speed. Went everywhere on this bike, including cycling 6 miles home from a beer festival at 02:00, knees round my chin. I also cycled it from Dalwhi...
