Re: Not the day I'd hoped for....
I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you recover quickly and it doesn't put you off your future riding.
The only consolation I can give you is the Covid-19 will pick off the idiots who can't maintain social distance or wash their hands regularly. Just like the twunts who pushed you off!

Re: Sleep Systems
I have an Alpkit Solo tent. Its a freestanding set up. I rarely use it as a complete tent, and prefer using the outer only as a "tarp tent" I find this arrangement far more comfortable than a tarp, although it weighs a bit more. In warmer, more insect filled nights, I pitch the inner only....

Dummies guide to packing bags!
I apologise for this idiots question. I'm concerned about the weight in the front bar bag. To me, you would want to keep the front as light as possible to reduce any effect on steering. So I usually just have the sleeping gear and tarp in there. However I read about one of the competitors in the Atl...

Re: SS chains
I use the KMC B1 chain on my single speeds. I thought this was the ss chain? Although there is an initial stretch, it soon settles down. My legs might be weedy though

Re: G-one tires
G-one Allrounds have become my standard spring to autumn tyre after trying a myriad of other tyres. I use 38mm ones which as Faustus says above come out just over 40 on my Hunt-Mason gravel wheels. They have shown some surprising levels of grip considering the relatively small tread pattern. I often...

Do Aerodynamics matter for Ultra Distance Bikepacking?
I'm not sure if this is relevant for this forum but I thought, if nothing else, it might be an interesting viewing.
The people in it are a tad annoying to my "old man" mentality.

Re: Cooking stove recommendations
Thanks everyone for your ideas. A lot to research now. I've always disliked meths after I set my hand on fire using a Trangia!! Might have to revisit.

Cooking stove recommendations
Hi Looking to buy a new stove. I don't see me going much beyond boiling water for coffee or pouring into dehydrated food, so no complex cooking sets needed. I doubt I would use this beyond Europe so I'm mainly thinking of gas cylinder set ups, not multi fuel. At the moment I like the look of the MSR...
