Re: Synthetic winter sleeping bag

I once had an MH ultra lamina 0, crazy small pack size for such a warm bag, I don’t think they make the ultras anymore and it’s something I regret selling Not sure if a quilt appeals but the Climashield Apex insulation is very good, I know Wiggys make Apex bags but I think they’re more aimed at arct...

Re: Cheap cranks died, need your help

I'd be inclined to fit a set of square tapers to a commuter. Sugino RD2s from Spa Cycles for ex. Cheap, perfectly good enough quality, loads of options, BBs generally last a number of years. Basic Shimano HT2s are junk imo, and they're better than many similar options. Rarely get over 9 months from...

Re: Weekend plans?

On-call for work so got to stick near the house all weekend, might do a bit of packing for my Hebrides trip next weekend though. Got a brand new BCT ridge tent I need to try and setup to take some pics for ebay, always fun on a concrete yard. Need to sort the workshop out in the cellar, build a heft...

Re: How to work out what size bike to buy when you can't try one in a shop

Likewise, I was very interested in a Grail or Grizl a few months ago, at 5' 10" I was also coming out as a small, just too much of a gamble for me especially when you factor in the import fees etc on top of the £3k, I can imagine making a return is a bit of nightmare too.

Re: Electric cars - impressive.

There's some clever alternative technologies out there but I'm sure somebody like Shell or BP will have bought all the patents and buried them deep in a vault somewhere until fossil fuels are almost depleted. There's a few mentioned here .. https://www.pocket-lint.com/gadgets/news/130380-future-batt...

Does the Monkii cage in Stu's shop take a chunky bottle?
I think 92mm would be pushing it.
Thanks Stu, I'll scratch that one off the list then

Wide bottle cage options?

I'm on the hunt for a wide bottle cage to take a 40oz (92mm diameter) klean kanteen on the underside of my downtube, what are the options out there?

Does the Monkii cage in Stu's shop take a chunky bottle?

Re: FS: Luxe HexPeak.

The later bigger one was called the V4A Stu, you might be able to find that on the bag, I can't remember if it's printed on mine, the original smaller version was just called the V4

Edit: just checked mine Stu and it does say v4A on the end of the stuff sack

Re: Seam Sealing/Waterproofing a Tent?

I'd recommend thinning it as it helps it absorb into the fabric/thread rather than just sitting on top, I use a 2:1 white spirits/silicone mix, just done in small batches as it goes off quickly. Applied with a small soft make up brush stolen from the wife, the stiff ones that come with most tent sil...

We parked a van in the big CP next to the train station for two weeks when we did the Cape Wrath Trail, bunged £40 worth of tickets on the window and walked away, no bother when we got back.
