Replacing wheel bearings

My front wheel has gone a bit grindy so I've been having a look tonight, any tips on how I get the bearings out? I've got access to a bearing press and puller but what's the deal with the sleeve that's protruding, how does that come out so I can use the puller on the inner race, does it need a tap f...

Re: Anyone own one of these stove/pot setups!?

I've dabbled with esbit just for the weight savings but wasn't keen, I found it slow, smelly and makes right mess of your po, went back to meths after a couple of trips

Re: Recommended me a tyre :)

I'm just about to retire my G-One Ultrabites which have covered over 2,000 km since I put them on, the rear is starting to look a bit thin down the centre. I'm tempted to buy the same again as they've been great, I mostly ride compacted gravel, forestry tracks, a bit of single track and a decent chu...

Re: Ham Curious

I've not owned a DD hammock for about 15 years but back in the day the tree straps needed a good stretch before use, otherwise you'd slowly get lowered onto the deck during the night, they've probably changed them since but thought I'd mention it

Would a waist pack count as getting weight off the back? I've been pleased with the Osprey Seral pack so far

Re: Contemplating a change of air mattress...

If you're avoiding Exped then the S2S mats are worth a look, I recently switched from a Exped HL MW to a Thermarest Xlite NXT in wide which had been very comfy, the amount of.noise it makes varies depending on which shelter I'm using and the groundsheet fabric, silpoly is much noisier than silnylon ...

Pegging can be tricky so a free standing design would be a wise choice, something with decent fly coverage to keep the windblown ash out too

Henge Hammocks have got a few Cocoon down UQs available

You've just missed the Hammock Gear (US) sale where they had some decent offers on, I've been very happy with my 2013 purchases

I have a 5ft length of Amsteel with fixed loops on the ends and a wee Yale combi lock, I rarely use it but it's nice to have it on board

Re: The future of insulation ?

Any idea how long they've been testing Stu? Sounds great but I'd have concerns about longevity and how well it handles repeated compression, it'll be good to see jow this develops. I can see down getting phased out fairly soon, some of the synthetic offerings nowadays aren't that far behind now, som...

Re: Tall Riders Coat Choices

Santa brought me one of these, in fact he brought me three in the end. I usually go for large in roadie brands, opened it on Xmas day and it was like a tent on me, sent it back for a medium then again for a small. It's got a nice long drop back and holds off a shower, sleeves are a good length I thi...

Re: Memory maps on iphones

It's a while since I used MM but I remember I had to use a classic license for my very ancient map files, probably not related though.

I did find the support guys at MM very helpful and they soon sorted me out, might be worth dropping them a mail

There was one called ODX too at around £180 I think

I've got the Nanolite version but haven't been that impressed with it, glad I only paid half price for it in the sale, one to avoid if you find one.

It'd be a pair of Ron Hill tracksters for me, especially on a multi day trip, not a fan of minging about camp or sleeping in my chamois
