Re: DD Hammocks tarps
It’s decent stuff, I’ve had quite a few bits and pieces from them over the years.
They had issues with a batch of camo tarps once (probably 10 or 12 years ago) but quickly resolved it and replaced any affected tarps

I seem to have got off lightly with clegs in this country but know others who suffer, my mate down Peterborough way complains about them every summer. The only time I’ve experienced bad clegs was in Austria, walking through a wooded area next to a river when the wife let out a yelp, they were biting...

Re: The story behind your BB name (and whats your usual form of address)
Sad to see After Dark rotting away now, I live in Morley and drive past the front door every morning. It was turned into an Italian restaurant which was weird, huge place with no atmosphere, kitchen was in the chill out room. That didn’t last long at all and it soon closed again, the neighbouring bu...

Good idea shaf. I'm usually andy. Edit: Oh yeah the explanation. Techno comes from my musical obsession and mail is a bastardisation of my surname. Should have probably just gone for techno thinking about it.... Good man, did you ever make it to Orbit in Morley back in the day? Too right!!! I went ...

I'll just say that I've made it through 61 summers in Scotland with neither a midge-jacket nor midge-gloves... 😊 You’re a braver man than I, or you must taste bad  I don’t actually get bitten that much or the bites don’t seems to affect me much, it’s the sheer density of them that can make a ...

The Highland species of midge is the worst of the biters and needs a physical barrier like a headset. :o might explain why I've never been as afraid of em as other folk... I don't think I've ever been to the HLs  Will keep that jacket advice to hand... Do we need a headnet as well as the jac...

Re: A question that might be hard to answer - Scotland
There’s quite an interesting book out there on midges, I lent it out on the forum some years ago and never got it back. Talks about all the different species of midge, which ones are the most ferocious, feeding patterns etc. It also talks in great length about science, research and the lengths we ha...

Horrendous most likely but don’t let them get in the way of a good trip.
I’d pack a Beaton midge jacket, either Autan, Avon SSS or Wilmas Nordic Summer, or all three just to be safe,
Pray for a 5mph breeze too :)
Plenty of permethrin for the ticks

Re: Is this being unreasonable
Neoprene is funny stuff and can take an age to dry out sometimes. I have a $900 hunting jacket (I don’t hunt but use it for open canoeing) which has neoprene cuffs, it’s the only thing that lets it down. The face fabric can appear or feel dry but the inner rubbery stuff is still saturated. It’s a tr...

Re: USB Power Banks using AA Batteries
I used to carry a Powrmonkey charger in the days before smart phones, two AA’s would be enough to charge up my old Nokia brick every week or so, not used it for ages but I don’t think it would charge my iPhone on one set of batts, technology should’ve come along since the though.

Not really read the article on my phone but I’d be more inclined to do so if she’d written something herself rather than just linked to social media pages, has she even been to the top 8 or just picked them out her armchair?
