Re: Padded shorts: yay, or nay?

Feel as though I've learnt too much personal info about people on this thread, I used to ride 10 hours a day 5 days a week and race at the weekend (despatch rider) always used padded shorts and kept things clean is the key. Cycling less nowadays so wear points not as tough as used to be and not all ...

Re: Do I 'need' a fat bike?

I use my fat bike less than I use to but when the riding involves boggy moorland or slushy wet it just works so well, riding the puffer I never used it because it's not it's environment, 27+ or 29 much better. Riding up Affric to the bothy it eats the track easily.

Heading towards civilization and a train home, it would be the wise decision or is he going to pick Lee and Jenny up from the pub and get them back on course

Re: Cairngorms loop sept?

Back home with a g&t in my hand and an Indian about to be eaten, nice to meet everyone but the Cairngorms will be there for some time. Good luck to those left out there.

Re: Cairngorms loop sept?

If I'm in it'll be a 10:00 start for me. I'd need to leave at 07:30 to even be ready for that. I'm seeing some very serious rain forecast from 16:00 Friday until early afternoon Saturday. Fords of Avon will be interesting but the next section could be purgatory. I'll call it tomorrow. The route isn...

Re: Cairngorms loop sept?

I'd thought about starting earlier but if everyone else is going at 10, that would just seem rude  I'm not expecting to be rocketing round either. I'm up for an earlier start, with the weather looking likes it's going to be bad and tortoise style approach to this. Need to see Friday midday to ...

Re: Cairngorms loop sept?

Steve sent an email Friday, with a list of starters and will send a amended route shortly. Better buy some midge repellent I think, wasn't a problem in May in the snowfest

Re: Your bike collection

I sold all my bikes when I retired from cycling and only returned 4 years ago On one fat bike, ride rarely but love it when I do. Orbea loki, got it for the puffer and riding around the Highlands Stooge Mk3, originally MK1 but it snapped, single speed setup at the moment but put gears on for bike pa...

Re: Cairngorm loop May 4th 2019

Just a quick hi to those who I met on the CL this weekend, I was the tall guy riding a purple stooge, and yes it's purple not pink and no it's not my wife's shopping bike. My first time in the Cairngorms but living just north of Inverness I'm sort of use to Scottish weather but still that wind did i...
