Re: Wtd.. drop outs/mech hanger for Stanton Sherpa Next Gen

They were only ever made for and sold through Stanton, Sean. That frame could run either 148mm or 142 depending on the dropouts used. £50 for a pair of drop outs with integral mech hanger was always a bit of a hit, especially given my record on walloping rear mechs off rocks! I've been through many ...

Wtd.. drop outs/mech hanger for Stanton Sherpa Next Gen

Hi, I'm down to one mech hanger for my next Gen (2017) sherpa, and i've got a multi day trip planned for May! Now Stanton don't make 'em any more, and haven't released the CAD files to 3rd party manufacturers and have bigger issues on their minds. I don't want to dump or mothball the (excellent and ...

Re: Etrex alternatives?

Not sure what you mean by "turn points". Are you referring to "turn by turn" instructions or "waypoints"? Yeah, I was getting them confused. Bit clearer now! Main issue I think was clumsily sending routes instead of tracks to the unit, then trying to view them on the m...

Re: Etrex alternatives?

Well, there seems to have been a bit of user error (ahem! ). Went through the files on the etrex unit, and in amongst the tracks for the upcoming trip were two routes. Cleared everything, loaded CAREFULLY all the TRACKS and its OK. Still slow to load and monumentally slow if you try to move t...

Re: Etrex alternatives?

@whitestone I do save routes as tracks (on basecamp) before uploading them - I thought there were still limits on number of turn points though? If not then that's reassuring. That link you posted is the best explanation of the Etrex ive seen, thanks, i'm reading it now. I will try to clear data once...

Etrex alternatives?

My Etrex 20X, bought from classifieds on either here or Singletrackworld a few years ago, is dying - getting (even) slower, glitchy and refuses to upload more than one 8okm, 250 turn point, route. Hard reboot doesn't solve it. I have a 12 day trip coming up at the end of the month, saved in 11 gpx f...

Re: Anyone got a Sherpa?

I have a next gen sherpa, it goes on long and short day rides, bikepacking trips and occasional razzing about on woodland gnar(ish) trails in Calderdale and beyond. I've built it up with EX471 wheels, 2.6" tyres and a McQueen 120mm fork, all of which may contribute to it not being the lightest,...

Re: Todays ride

After a fallow few months where i've been restricted to short (2hr) and have lost the mojo a bit, February means a concerted effort to get some more lengthy rides in.... so I did an Ogden loop from Hebden. EPIC quantities of mud, its usually a reasonable choice for winter, but this winter seems to h...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Well, Ill be finishing the year with another no-show. November and December have been devoid of bivvy motivation. I know BAM is supposed to be the motivation when the other reasons to bivvy are failing BUT....Ive struggled with being able to face it when its pishing doon, as it has for much of the p...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Looks like I'm butting out for 2019... November has been a tough month - Should've grasped the nettle earlier, but put off by the incessant rain. Now the weather has changed for the better but a poorly ageing mum takes precedence. So it's back to grabbing 2 HR night rides max, and Hoping to ge...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Same boat as you TBD, no weekend time available for November, so a midweek pre work outing will have to do. Think the tent will come out as well - or the old stand bye cave might get another shout!

Experiment with resized images after attempting to post original sized images:

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Is that straight from a phone? If so you probably need to resize it first before pushing to imgur rather than rely on the forum to do it for you. Yup, made an assumption that somehow files were resized automatically (i'm a bit naive on media stuff!) Makes sense - I'll start resizing photofiles befo...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

10/10 with a "high altitude" Calderdale bivvy - 443m High Brown Knoll trig point. Its a grind up past (reluctantly) the Hare and Hounds, across the Calderdale Way, and ultimately through the wet peat of Midgely Moor. Another blurry dark photo of wet brown grass, a bike and a tent AND a tri...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

My first solo lowers service (always relied on more competent support, don't know why but forks make me nervous) - pepped up my 6 month old McQueen hlr from the Sherpa. Remarkably clean wipers after a hard last couple of months in the calderdale glaur. Hey frog at 'farriers, just seen your post, hop...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

With a good forecast and being deserted for the weekend by partner and son, a long Saturday ride with a bivvy and trundle in to work on sunday morning was in my head....BUT my 89 year old mum got wind and asked me for tea, so.... 9pm saw me pedalling off to the cave in the woods behind my work (agai...

I await your pm...they seem to take a while to get through sometimes. Just for info, its a non I-Spec model, so it has its own bar clamp and doesn't bolt to I-Spec brake levers. It should be fine for any Shimano three by set up.
