Re: The post man's been ...

Made use of the Alpkit sale and got a long handled ti spork that i've wanted for a while, and a gas canister stand, which will be useful.

Carbon Exotic monocoque 29er Boost fork

Exotic carbon monocoque 29er fork. 490mm axle to crown, 200mm steerer, bung included. Wrapped on outside edges from new and in very good condition, but, suffered a small scrape in transit to me (from the edge of a disc rotor), see photo. Each mark only a couple of mm each and fork is absolutely fine...

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

Should have mentioned it has gone to 20inch wheels, if that makes much difference...although that's the wheel size my 6 year old rides so it still feels odd to me. I know the town in question and agree it doesn't make any sense unless you're taking it on transport and putting under your desk. I luck...

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

I've never ridden a Brompton, and i've never seriously considered one as i'm nearly 6'2" and i've no interest in skinny 16inch wheels. However, this looks pretty cool, and i can see it as a bit more versatile multi-terrain traveller. It looks pretty cool, and those discs are dinky! Expensive to...

Re: That Tent Question

Yeah exactly that, all things on the drizzle spectrum and rain aided by wind, plus general greyness, all make things undeniably more miserable than a bald rainfall figure can convey. The issue for me (fairly OT, sorry!), is that supplying water to homes relies on the plain rainfall numbers (obviousl...

Re: The post man's been ...

Also a carbon fork, a well priced 2nd hand Trek 1120 fork for the Titus. Replaces the exotic monocoque one, as it has all the mounts and a slightly more favourable a-c measurement. Will go on for winter miles and longer trips when the Reba isn't needed. Hoping to get a rack for it as per classifieds...

Re: That Tent Question

47 inches...Vs 38 in Seattle. The UK has a bit of a rainfall perception problem, most think it's the wettest place on Earth. It is a wet place, but it's probably because it feels more miserable than it is wet. And the south and east of the UK are surprisingly dry too. London is drier than Istanbul. ...

Re: What are you drinking now?

Super boring for this thread, but non-alcoholic beer. Big drop brewery Pine Trail Ale is very nice, and Hazy Jane stuff. I've not become completely teetotal and don't intend to, but have changed home drinks to almost entirely non-alcoholic. Stops me just chugging lazily on whatever is in the cupboar...

WTD: long shot, Trek 1120 front rack

Just picked up a pair of 2nd hand 1120 forks, and quite fancy getting the rack if I can. Out of stock as spares now, and the Farley rack is an option and looks to be the same item and trapezoid 4 bolt mount pattern. Just seeing if there are any cheaper 2nd hand ones knocking about with anyone here...

Re: Todays ride

Youngest started school, so now have every other Monday back to myself again since first boy was born. Regular Monday rides from now on. Also pretty settled on the sus fork on the Titus, making even light off road stuff a bit faster and less clattery. https://i.ibb.co/gPRk2q0/PXL-20240909-092804203-...

I think you can get matt heli tape, and if it's thin stuff then it'll probably look OK...?

Re: Rigid to soft...tyre width Q

I'm lucky in that I have a few spare tyres, and can steal the front wheel from the Soul as it's a mullet bike. Mines an el Viajero, and the fork should be just right. But the Reba is pretty basic (motion Control Solo Air afaik), and I can see the pressure needs fiddling with to get it feeling right:...

Rigid to soft...tyre width Q

I've gone soft on my 29er. The dried out hoof print trails and baked hard dirt has been taking it out of me lately. I've been running my main bike rigid for years, but something in me has switched recently. Maybe it's the Soul hardtail I got as a 'play' bike, but the sus fork was fun and fast. Recen...

Re: Todays ride

From last week, but got out on a few lovely rides from my parent's house in North Dorset. Lots of old haunts for me, but there was some lovely riding to be had. Good job I got the rides in when I did, as I now have fifth disease from one of the kids, and my joints are feeling an arthritic 75 :???: h...

Where you involved with the original, or was it Dom now of Fairlight?

The CdFs seems to have a fairly timeless quality to them, and those are very incremental changes!

Periodically search out Youtube to hear Radiohead do an excellent cover of Joy Division's Ceremony. It's not a song needing a cover particularly, but this one's particularly good.

Re: Tool for removing Shimano centerlock rotors?

Specific rotor type/make doesn't matter, just the lockring used. If external as below then yes, just a bb tool. Type of lockring is just down to axle/end clamp clearance right?
