Re: Bivvy a month 2022

May boxed off.

Hardknott Fort roughly 70 miles in to Jennride. Possibly the best 2 days I've ever had whilst pissing about on bikes. Just mint :-bd

Re: OCD Q: 3 bolt forks or not!

I personally try to only buy things I actually want and plan to keep for ever, or at least a very long time.

Buying something I don't want (or with features I don't need) to please a potential future owner wouldn't even cross my mind

Angus Young looks to have indeed finished under 36 hours. That's seriously impressive. Under 48 is going some!

Re: Bivvy a month 2022

Aprils BaM boxed off nice and early of Friday 1st. CX bike packed Thursday evening, rode to work through the snow showers Friday AM, then a mixed-surface (is that 'gravel'?) 50 mile loop to meet my beloved in Hebden Bridge Friday evening. Cheating slightly here as I'd convinced her it would be nice ...

I had a pedal out to the coast after work on Friday. Chippy tea in Brid, bivvy on Flamborough Head, watched the sunrise and pedalled back. Flat road miles for a change but I enjoyed it.

Definitely a sign of spring. I thought I saw a couple the other morning at the far end of the field next to the house but couldn't be certain.
Loads of Curlews and Lapwings an the moors above Kettlewell last weekend. Always a joy to behold!

Woke up in a ditch :-bd

Mostly cheery as its the last day of compulsory medical mask wearing at work. Whilst it may not seem like much in the scheme of things, as someone with severe hearing loss who mostly 'hears' by lip reading, it's a massive step towards a more-cheery work life :-bd

Re: Today's Run

I spent the weekend teaching navigation to fell runners in Kettlewell and it was most excellent. Clocked about 14 hours on the hill over Sat and Sun between teaching, running and putting out/in controls. Pretty darn tired today! Rest day today and tomorrow, back at it on Wednesday. Great work Greg!...

Looks good to me and for a very good cause! Mostly very familiar trails as I'm placed somewhere in the middle of the circuit, within striking distance of the Overgate hospice in Elland. Although some of the flatter stuff east of Dewsbury will be new for me. I'd like to make the mass start but it's a...

Re: what's happening up at Snakes Pass?

I rode over that way on Friday and had no prior knowledge of the closure until I saw the signs. There were a few other riders heading past the signage though so I followed suit and asked the Highways Agency bloke if I could pass, he had no issue and quite a few riders were coming from the other dire...

Re: Guilt issues over not riding.

I used to get this with running. I'd feel guilty for missing a session, so I'd plan the next session to be twice as intense. Then I'd dread that session and either miss that too, or really not enjoy it... It started to feel like a chore and something I 'should' be doing, rather than something I'd wa...

Re: Todays ride

Road cycling yesterday on the North West Passage 200km Audax.

Starting in Rochdale with controls at Settle, Kirkby Lonsdale and Scorton.

Mostly A-road bashing which would never usually be my preference but it ment the route was mostly gritted and the cars had cut tyre tracks in the snow.
