Re: Yorkshire Dales 300, 2022

Great read, thanks for the write up

I've rode it 3x now and don't understand why anyone would do it on a gravel bike. Not that it can't be done, I just can't imagine it'd be much fun at all

Offers invited. Despite various replies to the FB advert, it's still here. Seems a shame to split for parts and I'm reluctant to advertise on that auction site..

Re: Dorset Divide 2022

Thanks for the kind words  Dorset was a real treat! The event was wonderfully friendly and low-key with the kindest hosts and best placed campsite you could wish for, right on the coast of Portland, next to the lighthouse. We stayed to watch all the riders finish and generally had a great time...

Re: Dorset Divide 2022

Cheers for the feedback on the route. It's a clockwise circuit and the first 200km certainly look to be the lumpiest. Better that way round and have the flatter/faster bits in the second half when we're all shriveled up with dehydration... The road sections will probably be a blessing in this heat a...

Dorset Divide 2022

I didn't name it..

Looks good to me, although having never visited Dorset I'm not really qualified to form an opinion. Should have a better idea after next weekend. :-bd

Re: Bivvy a month 2022

Getting this one in early, although ideally I'll get a more leisurely trip in before the month is out. YD300. It was definitely a night out involving bikes and sleep was a feature, briefly. 8:00am start from Skipton, slightly rough weather for summer but and managed to get to Dales Bike Center for a...

Re: YD200/300 2022

Wet indeed. Then dry but bloomin' windy, then cold (5°c on Cam High Road 8-X), then wet again all though the night.

It's a tough ride but such a shame the turnout is so low. 46 signed up but only 17 turned out on the day :|

Re: 3 Peaks CX bike musings

Would you buy a new bike for a 38 mile ride? I'd just use the Alice.

I time a good healer, or has the price risen dramatically? Doubt I'd payed anything like £80 entry in the past

Re: The (almost, kindof) perfect down/synthetic jacket and spork/fork?

I've been using one of the Endura GV500 jackets for a short while. Primaloft gold, packs into its own pocket, weights 250g and does what it's supposed to do. The dropped tail helps keep my arse warm if I choose to wear it while sleeping somewhere draughty. It probably helps elevate arse temperature ...

Last minute DIY Audax/BAM completed on Friday. A hilly 200km of glorious sun, wind and rain with a mate from work, straight after clocking out at mid day. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52156980423_f0b4d3dd23_z.jpg IMG_20220617_210638-01 Mostly back lanes and quiet road from Huddersfield via th...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

C***d symptoms cleared enough to contemplate a longer ride  The sun is shining and my roadie/tour/audax bike is parked outside work ready for a 12:30 finish and a DIY 200km Audax finishing atop Cam High Rd. That'll cover my Randonneur Round the Year and BAM efforts for the month of June. All ...

6 days on the 1600km Bristol-Glasgow-Bristol Audax. It was pretty grim and I wouldn't fancy going much further without at least rinsing them.

Hardknott Fort roughly 70 miles in to Jennride. Possibly the best 2 days I've ever had whilst pissing about on bikes. Just mint :-bd
