Re: BG Duro/ GB Divide

Not the same route at all. This gbdivide race started in Canterbury and is finishing at Applecross. GBDURO is lands end to John o groats. I think the confusion is that there is a route called the gb divide, which the gbduro follows, but the gbdivide race doesn't.

Re: Dartmoor 200. September 18th

Possibly up for this. Have check dates but should be OK. Hopefully a good route as my other experiences of dartmoor are endless pushing along invisible trails.

Tarps, what should I be looking for?

I've always used tents in the past but me and my partner have recently got some bivy bags as they seem easier to use more stealthily. I've often read about using a tarp as well, especially in poor weather. I obviously want something that's light and packs down small but can cover the 2 of us, but do...

Re: HT550 2021

I see on twitter that James hayden is coming over to ride. I wondered if travelling difficulties would have prevented him. There's some very fast people on the start list!

Re: HT550 2021

For anyone not planning on being at the sharp end, I personally would say take a lightweight tent, especially if the bothies aren't open. Doesn't weigh much more than a bicycle and tarp if more comfy, and gets you away from the midgies.

Re: HT550 2021

Looks like the practicalities of getting there from France would have been a bit of a headache this year Looking at the start list it does appear that only the uk entries have confirmed for this year? James hayden is down as confirmed I think. The travel rules may have eased just in time or can he ...

Re: What happened to 24 hour racing?

While it doesn't get any publicity, I don't think xc racing is dead. Both Gorrick and Southern xc had races over Easter with a good few hundred riders between them. Pretty good as they had to abide by restrictions. I'm planning on going to 24/12 this summer, plus some other weekend away trips too. I...

Re: What happened to 24 hour racing?

Exposure 24/12 is running again (hopefully)in July. Always a good event with a much better course than MM. Numbers have definitely dropped off over the years though. I think the type of rider who did the teams have mostly moved to dh endure and those soloists (like me)have gone to more "bikepac...

Re: HT550 over 7 riding days

7 days is still 80 miles a day which would be beyond the majority of regular mtbers Throw in the likelihood of bad weather over tough terrain and I think an inexperienced rider might find the enjoyment might dwindle quite quickly.

Re: Highland Trail 2019

I scratched this morning in FA. Stopped early yesterday at the Blackburn bothy as I would at least be out of the weather. The rain through the night was hammering down. Most of my kit is wet so didn't want to carry on further north then have more trouble getting back. Even small stream crossings are...

Hi Hux. Think we saw you in Porlock outside the shop and had a quick chat about where you were heading. Looks a great ride. Exmoor is tough going but beautiful.
