Re: Komoot killing my (phone) battery

Thanks for the advice on this. I think I'll stick with the Garmin eTrex/cache battery combo and keep the phone for emergencies!

Re: Komoot killing my (phone) battery

I've tried all the usual things but like you have come to the conclusion that it's not really fit for purpose! Is it just iPhones or would a Samsung be just as bad?

Komoot killing my (phone) battery

I sort of like Komoot but even with my iPhone set to flight mode I get two hours (max) before the thing is dead, which completely useless as a navigation device (IMHO). Am I doing something wrong? I've reverted back to my standby (Garmin eTex), which is fine but I'd still like to understand what's g...

Re: Dog trailer recommendations

Hmmm, missed the bit about only being compatible with bikes with 18" to 20" wheels... How many adults bikes use that size wheel!

My dog's going to have to put up with a bucket seat as the trailer is tipping back a bit.

Re: Dog trailer recommendations

Thanks for all your help on this. I think Big Brother must be watching, as and article on this very subject has just appeared in Bikepacking.com... Anyway, that was only after my wife bought the red PawHut (above)! That's now going back as it's way too big and heavy, so I ordered the smaller/blue ve...

Dog trailer recommendations

I need something for my elderly dachshund! He's 13 and had spinal surgery last year but is still trucking... We're heading up to Scotland next month and I need something for him so that we can cover more miles/pubs.

Anyone got one of these that they'd want to move on? Looking for a 27.2mm clamp and 12L dry bag size.

Cheers

Re: The post man's been ...

On a recent trip I needed to do some road side repairs and found that I was missing a key piece of equipment – a pair of reading glasses! I’d spent so much time miniaturising my tool-kit I’d forgotten that without my specs I’d be completely screwed... I squinted my way through the repair but made a ...

Re: Hydraulic brakes

OMG! That's probably the best upgrade I've made in a long time. I've watched the hydraulic vs. cable brake videos on YouTube and was persuaded that a correctly set-up cable brake was comparable to hydraulic, but that's nonsense... Not on their best day were my BB7's anywhere near as good as these. :...

Re: Hydraulic brakes

If the brakes you've linked are the ones you're contemplating buying, you'd do well to check you're getting a pair, the description refers to rear twice. Also a 4 pot caliper could be a shock to the system after cable operated, I'd go for a set of mid range Shimano for fit and forget operation. I e...

Re: Hydraulic brakes

I've been thinking of switching out my BB7's to hydraulics but all the brakes online seem to be preconfigured with that weird right/rear and left/front way (I'm not a fan!). Can I get brakes the other way around or would I need to dismantle and rebuild beforehand? That seems like an expensive way t...

I've been hanging about on RB for many years and seem to have accumulated quite a few vintage steeds  .

I've got a few odds and ends up for sale which you can find the link to in my RB signature strip (same user name.)

NZO Active Dobies - SOLD

Bought these from New Zealand a couple of years and total misunderstood the sizing chart as they're waaaaay too big (XXL) . They've been worn a couple of times but I eventually bite the bullet and bought a smaller size, so these are just sitting in a draw. The newer/smaller/used pair have bee...

I have a Lidle(?) 25,000mAh power pack which has a built in solar panel and torch that even flashes SOS , but it's a brick, so I'm looking for something smaller.

Good call on the magnetic leads!

Re: Cache battery recommendation

Thanks, so the Mophie powerstation 2x is no longer available and if you could let me know which Zendure you were using that would be really helpful.

Any others? There are literally hundred to choose from and I'm exactly sure what works best with the K-Lite USB charger!

Re: Cache battery recommendation

Not sure about through charging but I guess it's a nice to have? At the rate my iPhone discharges its battery whist running Komoot, I can see a situation where it would need to be recharged during a long day and it would be good to be able to put some power back in at the same time. Does the RAVPowe...
