Re: Stealth fire
If you did that in an area with a peat rich soil, how do you know the fire is really out? It could reignite the following day after leaving and there's you proud of yourself for following "leave no trace"... Same with tree roots especially resinous pine ones. Gave the video the downvote it so richl...

Re: Future plans.....??
From Santander you could do worse than following my Spanish Divide route that you'd probably pick up at Reinosa. This meets the Montañasvacias trail at the Rio Tajo or if you want to start from Teruel, there's a Via Verde from Ojos Negros that takes you a more direct way. Thanks Duncan. I got engro...

Re: Future plans.....??
Montañasvacias is a great adventure @woodsmith &thebrowndog A group of 5 from on here did the route in Sept 2019. You're correct woodsmith, the Vuelta had a stage finish on Pico Buitre which is adjacent to Javalambe, I was on the finish line having ridden up. Here's my report on the MV Bearbones tr...

Re: Future plans.....??
I wanna do the trip to Spanish Lapland that was planned for this year but replaced by a ride around Dartmoor, which was probably tougher to be honest. It just looks amazing. https://montanasvacias.com/spanish-lappland/ @PaulB2 .... go the Big Bro frameset fella. Mine has become only the second bike...

Thanks for your generosity with this helpful comment. Without this kind of insight how could we ever have reached the bright

Re: Maxxis Chronicle
Bonty XR2's are a fine substitute and lighter to boot. It is annoying that 29+ seems to be popular in the States and Europe but never seemed to take off over here. My conspiracy theory being that the UK bike industry wants to sell people full suspension bikes, not rigids.... How are the XR2's for d...

Re: Made me smile, plus EBB and Chain question
The guidelines I've seen for chain wear replacement is 0.5% on 12 speed, 0.75% on 9-11 speed, and 1% on the rest.
Topeak do a really small, light chain wear guage but it only has a 0.75% setting.

I was interested to see that the discussion threads on both the Radavist and Bikepacking.com chose to focus on the technical aspect of apparentley yet another boost wheel standard while we chose to ridicule the pretentious marketing

Thanks for linking the video Stu, I really enjoyed watching that.
I met this guy on my thru-hike of the Continental Divide Trail in 2019 as it follows the path of the Colorado Trail for about 450 miles. I was one one of the hikers whose trail names he mentions ( Bear Bait) at 8.22.

There's quite a lot of road riding on thr second city divide. If you're wanting the max amount of off road I'd look elsewhere, The Great North trail perhaps
