Re: It's the 2021 "What Gravel Tyre...?" Thread

Similarly the Pirelli Cinturato™ Gravel M in 45mm seems to be out of stock everywhere. Has anyone run the Schwalbe G-One Ultrabite / G-One Bite combo...? With the Super Ground casing, are they properly puncture resistant...? Sorry, I am of no help as where to get them, but currently using said Pire...

Ha could be the basis of a new challenge. Cycling in a dead straight line between two points
I know of one such attempt:

I think he deviated a little, one km away from dead straight line, but still, quite an achievement.

Triglav Packman already has front loops that play nicely with the Jones bar:

That's how I use mine.

Re: Jones truss fork on another bike ?

Not a Jones, granted, but I put a Stooge Speedball truss fork on a Ritchey Commando frame.
If the head tube length is right, the A-C matches, then why not?

Re: What's the best for gravelw*nking - 700 or 650B

I definitely favour 650bx47-50 for most of my riding, I have either slick tyres on a bike that sees mostly asphalt, and gravel tyres on forest path/gravel bike. I just prefer the nimble feeling and extra cushion of 650b. Yes, I could get the cushion with larger tyres on 700c but I would loose the ni...

Re: Kindergarten geometry playground

I ask myself if it's so much of a difference if I go short front/long rear or long front/short rear? Interesting discussion for sure. I can't help thinking that a reasonably long FC with relatively longish RC wouldn't be a bad compromise? Long enough front so that stand-up space is not restricted, ...

Yes, this. As an added bonus you can easily run side swing derailleur and MTB 2x crankset.
36/26 plus 9 or 10 speed 11-40 will take you everywhere (that's what I run on my Gryphon)

Thanks, does it shift fine? Officially MTB FD and road shifter don't play well together.
I still think Shimano missed the ball with grx, they should have just made it compatible with MTB derailleurs from the start...

Re: jones bars not working...........again

I found that Jones-like bars work for me best when about level with the saddle. I have them set up like that on one bike (Gryphon) which is perfect for me. However when I grafted them on Ritchey Commando with much shorter stack - it didn't work well at all. Geoff bars went back to Gryphon and I fitt...

Re: Custom Frame Bag

My friend makes Triglav bags: https://www.instagram.com/triglavbikepacking/
If you are not in hurry, can heartily recommend it. Great quality and attention to details.

Although, the owner being my friend, take my recommendation with appropriate dose of skepticism.

Re: Your bike collection

I'll play too. Currently at 3: 1. old early 90's VSF Fahrradmanufaktur which I had converted to 26'' wheels with custom low trail fork for grocery-getting and child carrying duty. Also sees occasional easy bike tour with the wife. 2. Singular Gryphon with PX Geoff bar, probably my favourite. Getting...
