Re: Films to watch while isolating

Loads of films on the Kendal Mountain Player (most of the films from the Mountain Festival). If you use the code ECOFLOW10 you can get a month free if you use the monthly option. You do have to put in CC details but you can then cancel immediately and get a month of watching (when I clicked to cance...

That’s what I did and Neil designed me a titanium Cutthroat-a-like mount laden cruiser and it’s been great. Switched between drop and flat bars and the carbon and a fox fork depending on planned riding. Love it.

I’m in. South Lakes based but not done much riding up that way so it’ll be nice to try some new spots. Happy with a group bimble too.

Re: Fat Fighters '22 - (The year of victory edition!)

I'm in, after starting 2021 relatively well and doing some good rides over summer, I started a degree in Autumn and then got totally distracted from riding meant I ended the year the heaviest I've ever been. Aiming to get back in the 85kg range (80kg is the top of the recommended BMI weight but when...

Re: Storm Arwen damage - Cairngorms etc?

Also etc, I live in the South Lakes, house still without power (we’ve escaped to parents in Wales). Heard on the grapevine that Grizedale is a complete write off, a lot of the local brides ways are blocked. Will be awhile before a lot of them are passable and I’m not sure how much motivation there w...

Re: Anyone use a 'torch' for night riding?

My partner and I both used torches as helmet lights until we recently bought a joystick and a diablo to replace them after one stopped working consistently. Other than the conection fault never had a problem with them, but we rarely rode without a bar light too so beam pattern wasn't an issue. I can...

Re: Looking for a headtorch

I've got an Alpkit Qark, mainly wanted something that was rechargable but could also take AAAs in an emergency. Has an adjustable lens so I've found it pretty good zoomed in for gravel and easy trail riding and then lower setting zoomed out is good for round camp.

Re: That gear "Eureka" moment.

Polaris Fixie Straps. Recommended by someone on here and I always have a couple when I head out. Managed to bodge a snapped derailleur hanger with one to grind my way up Honister and Newlands and repaired a friends front roll harness with a couple looped together.

Re: Fork trouble

The seller should be going through the warranty process with SRAM on your behalf : https://www.sram.com/en/service/warranty the seller should go through SRAM but if its grey or OEM that may not be that easy to do I thought the same thing, they tried to fob me off, but I'll have another go with them...

Re: Fork trouble

Anything can be fixed but it really depends what the issue is It might be a simple fix but it might be the Air assembly has broken off and scored the inside as it rattles around inside, Personally I would have a quick look inside and then decide whether to return them or not. Thanks, is it just a c...

Fork trouble

I recently bought a new SID Sl fork at a decent discount. Worked fine for a few rides and started knocking at the top of the rebound and rattles a little at the top of the stroke. (Feels a bit like the headset is loose, checked and it’s definitely coming from the fork) Seller is saying they can take...

Re: Trans-Cambrian Way

I always think the TCW is weird in that it never feels like the same ride twice. A section that can drag one day can be over in the blink of an eye another. I can imagine, I'm sure the weather and my sugar levels would have made a big difference to a few sections. Equally if I'd started early and k...

Trans-Cambrian Way

After an aborted attempt at the TCW last year with two friends I decided to have another crack at the TCW. (Last year we took over geared gravel bikes and a surprise storm made it unpleasant so we ditched the route after the first night and took the road back to Aberystwyth). Having flexibility mean...

Re: Oval Chainrings for GRX

I've used Superstar chainrings on a couple of my bikes, never had any issues. They're low on stock but there's a 36t in Black in stock. https://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/raptor-oval-chainring-110bcd-asymetric-narrow-wide.htm I've not used it on GRX but I've replaced 105 chainrings with these on...

Re: WTD - SRAM 11sp road/gravel trigger shifter

You can easily swap the exact actuation mech (assuming it’s a force or rival one) to x actuation by changing the plastic cable guide to one from an mtb mech. I’ve probably got one I could spare somewhere. That would allow you to use an mtb 11 speed sram shifter if that helps? I’ve done the opposite...

WTD - SRAM 11sp road/gravel trigger shifter

I'm switching to a flatbar and looking for an 11 speed Sram trigger shifter with Exact Actuation. I believe the APEX1 or S700 should be compatible. Much appreciated!

the shifter works I thught road and mTB disc cablebrakes had different pulls - no idea if hydraulics can be swapped out - I assume there is more value[cheaper] in selling what you have and getting MTB brakes than swapping levers Thought of doing this but I think in future I might want to switch bac...

I want to convert from drop bar - 1x11 SRAM rival hydraulic to flat bar on my monster crosser to give a bit more control on descents.
