Re: OT: Morocco - hillwalking?

I have hiked in the Toubkal region and summit. Also 3 bike trips (2 posted on here). If it is a week of hiking you want, then you may have to use a guide in that area due to the girls getting beheaded. (I started my trip the day after!). Also winter conditions now. If it was me with a car. Drive to ...

Didn't see any turkeys but plenty of very big boar at night. Unlike other boar I've seen, they come very close to the tent and growl like bears. :???:

Re: Türkiye aka Turkey. Nov/Dec 2023 trip

Hi and thanks for posting. Were you following any particular route? The first trip, one month, I flew into Bodrum Airport (not town) and followed the coast (not all) around to Dalaman Airport. Mainly wild camping in remote bays so I could practice my freediving. This trip, one month, I flew into/ou...

Re: Pilgrimage for a Pint

I bikepacked into Knoydart last year. From Loch Arkaig. During a dry spell, which made a huge difference. I found 6 crates of beer hidden in the bushes. Been there a while. But I wasn't drinking at the time. Bummer.

Re: Tour de France 2023: Injuries, disaster bivies, failure to complete the ride - a great time all round

:-bd La Bérarde is the best ride in the Alpes. The 2 climbs are beasts. Spent 10 days there this year on multiple trips. Last Christmas I was camping and swimming at Lac Lauvitel. I started the same trip as you from Dieppe in September. But bailed after a week due to the heatwave. Spent every day hi...

Re: Press fit help?

Thanks for the replies.
I went with Loctite medium strength thread locker, as that is what I had. Will find out in a couple of years if it will come out.
The compound was recommended by the RaceFace bearing not the frame. (Niner aluminium)

Press fit help?

Going to replace my hated creaking Press Fit bearing tomorrow. Heading off, so can't wait any longer. Instructions say use grease unless there is a possibility of creaking, then use a Loctite bearing compound. I don't have the Loctite and last time I used grease, it creaks. Can I use Loctite medium ...

Re: Turkey Türkiye

Thanks for the links/replies. I hope to be heading off in a couple of weeks. One way ticket, no set time. I'll see how the weather holds out. I was there in December last year and defo no sign of snow on the southern coast. If it gets too cold, I could hide the bike in the bushes and hike the Lykia/...

Turkey Türkiye

I hope to head off to Turkey in a few weeks. I tried a search on here but found too many 'Christmas turkey dinner' trips to sort through. I went last winter for a month and loved it. I am amazed that I don't see trips on this forum. I rode along the southwest coast, stopping for the night in remote ...

Re: Gas Usage

It is easy - Put your hand a couple of inches above the pot when it is being heated. If you feel heat (not just warmth) coming up the sides, then that is heat wasted. Just heating air. Admittedly also a bit of the sides, but mostly wasted. Turn the gas down until that heat up the sides is minimal. T...

Garth Farm campsite?
Stayed there.
The lakeside shack/house is dirt cheap and he supplies wood for the fireplace.
Bivied in the forest on the left. But it gets smaller every year. Almost nothing left now.

But I could be wrong.

Re: Pump question?

Thanks for the reply. I didn't realise that double action (DA) would make pumping more awkward. The size and weight savings may be worth it though. The Mountain Morph with hose and foot is a bit of a beast. But agree that it is good.

Pump question?

I have a Topeak Mountain Morph. 35cm. 250g.
It's big and heavy but works on tubeless setups.

Topeak do the Mountain DA. 1/2 the weight and 13cm shorter.

Has anyone tried the DA with seating a tubless tyre?

Has anyone tried both and has an opinion?

Cheers.
