Oops?
Sorry! Should have said that I left it there on purpose. Along with a load of other good bits hidden around. A clear out - too much hassle to try and sell.

I think they are deathstalkers. Need to check. Worth googling, they are nasty buggers. But these were small ones.

Re: Rasta in Morocco.

I'm still out here riding. Just checked into a hotel after a week of wild camping. Hence, no email for a week. Internet is very slow, so will post later when it improves. Just spent a fun afternoon dropping scorpions on top of spiders. I have been zapped twice by a scorpion, so I don't feel bad abou...

Some ancient bladders I found in a ruined fort. Will come in handy for the longer stretches.
I just soaked them and they are as good as new.

Re: Gatwick bivi spot?

Brilliant! Thanks both of you. And for the map links. I was expecting to get out of the airport by road but that path avoids it all. A few years ago I slept in the middle of one of the roundabouts. Loads of bushes. And with the rain on the bivi sack I didn't hear the cars. Got a tarp tent this time,...

I have a flight from London Gatwick at 7am. Check in 5am. Wake up 4am. Last couple of times I slept at the airport. But that was bad with the tanoy sounding every 15mins. Police dogs etc. Anyone know of a discreet spot nesrby? I'll head up on the last train and try to get 4hrs kip. PS. bike wrapped ...

Re: WTD: 26 Ice tyres

Thanks for the replies. I heard zip-ties can be used in temporary mode.
I have an idea to do the Route des Grandes Alpes in sections. (Geneva/Nice). In winter, making snow shelters on the cols.

Re: WTD: 26 Ice tyres

A side question for those who have them -

Are they for snow only or can they be used on roads too? How long would they last on road?

I did a couple of overnighters in the Alps last winter, on mtb tyres, not safe when the snowploughs had gone down to the icy tarmac.

If anyone else runs a B&B in any of the other places I have mentioned, and aren't happy with my posts, then let me know and I will remove them.

To avoid another "dangerous" situation.

Re: Bike packing somewhere warmish in December – Any ideas ?

Oman is popular for its safe desert camping, friendly people and fairly cheap flights. Via Dubai I think. I haven't been. Jordan will start to have very cold nights soon. Wadi Rum, by yourself? I don't think that would be possible and if it was - the harassment by the guides would be a nightmare. Yo...

Morocco.
I did a 4 week cycle trip in the southern desert area a couple of years ago. I may also go again in a couple of weeks.

Take or buy local a roll of duct tape, string and a tarp for packing the bike.
