Sanitary towel/pad, sports tape and neosporin is all I've ever carried for multi day events.

Dental floss works good for stitching and has more than one use.

I find that the strava subscription fee is worth it just for the download feature alone.
It allows you to download any strava file as a gpx.

Re: Two days with no resupply?
I'm getting hungry reading all these suggestions.
My own staples are cheese, jerky and peanut butter. All dense calories. With a bag of tortillas and a few condiments just add some imagination.

Re: Battery life on Garmin Dakota 20
Set the screen to power off after 10 seconds. This is usually enough time to see you are still on the track as this unit is not much use for anything else. I can get about two days of about 18 hours a day use (tracking and recording) on a set of lithium extremes. Remember to power down when you are ...

Light and doesn't have the undershoe strap that gets trashed if there is extensive HAB. I've used a pair for bikepacking for the last year and I'm ready for a new pair. ymmv

Re: Highland Trail 550 - 2018
Here's a link to a short visualization of my HT550 ride. Made some totally rookie mistakes of missed turns (usually because I was too deep into the moment  ) and miss-timed resupply stops. :| I totally loved the route and was overwhelmed by the beauty and perfect conditions. I couldn't beli...

Re: Semi plus tyres sort of thing
Another option might be the WTB offerings, I've the Bridger on my 650B+ wheel for example but it's a bit heavy but that could be the "competitively priced" Alpkit wheel  I rolled 3" WTB Ranger (fast rolling) on the HT550. Good sidewall protection too. They are a lot lighter tha...

Re: Another Dynamo hubs query
Last year I sent my SP dynamo hub back to the factory in Taiwan for bearing replacement. It had seen 4 years of constant use on mixed conditions including desert, mud, river crossings etc and just general hard trail riding. Total cost including bearings and shipping was $37. (From USA) Now that I ha...
