Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

Is that a Dyson Stu? That'd be a 'sucker' rather than blower Phil  Is that a GS engine? What are you grafting on Stu? It's a Z1, 1075cc, flowed, big valves etc blah blah. Blower is a Sprintex. They've unusual in that they're not a lobed Roots type but a 'twin screw'. This makes them much more...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

Leaving the cardboard and masking tape stage and entering the aluminium and duct tape phase is cheery. I know it'll likely not mean much to anyone but trust me on this  https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3LNghH5OpcZbjKAB9ww0bg0le_MR0T6VyyjnqHRnaC3rmNTJuL8JylotTqwi70QY...

Re: Pedalcell shutting down

Shame.
Looked promising.
Powerful but unreliable.
Not enough development and improvements.
A bit Heath Robinson in a British way.
It really needed to be of velogical built quality to be reliable.
Hopefully someone will develop an improved version.

Re: Shimano caliper - micro leaks

Having replaced replaced with new calipers on three of my bikes, they all have leaked again. In under 1000 miles. In fact my urban arrow cargo bike has failed in under 50 miles . I can't believe Shimano are still denying there isn't a problem. Replacing the o-ring halve seal??? WE SHOULD NOT ...

Wise choice. I have a pair of 10 x 26 safari ones. Cheaper than yours, but can't fault them. Regularly carry them on rides. Pleased with their performance over last 5 years. :-bd

Re: Shimano brakes

Personally,I think it's unacceptable. I would be interested how Shimano USA is dealing with this problem! Having worked on cars and motorcycles,I cannot recall one case of new brake failures or on vehicles of a few years of age. I don't understand how this is acceptable in the cycle industry, and fro...

May I ask if many of you that are using Shimano hydraulic brake calipers on your bikes, how many have experienced the "micro leaking " of the calipers resulting in contaminated pads and discs with the resulting squeal and no braking? I have three Shimano braked bikes and they all suffer fro...

Re: Noob tech question again - BB's

Having worked in many cycle shops over the years and having carefully measured axles, widths etc.
I recommend always fitting the exact same make and model as removed bottom bracket bearings if possible.
It saves time ,money and frustration!
The same ,almost ,applies to steering bearings!

Re: Shimano brakes

Am with stu on this one re Shimano mineral brakes. Using a Shimano or aftermarket ie. Clarks bleed kit. It Usually works best back bleeding via the caliper bleed nipple and exiting fluid via the master cylinder assembly. Rotate the master cylinder on the bars so the exit/bleed/top up port is uppermo...

Absolutely FBP! You can understand they joy of interaction with the wildlife. They really are character's. The various parks I visit for lunch all have groups of rooks and some jackdaws. Each one has different mannerisms. Some like to perform acrobatics while flying and gliding into the wind. It's i...

IMG_20211209_141117~2.jpg Wildlife experience's are a wonderful thing. My commutes are made pleasurable when encountering wildlife ,I nearly always stop and watch them for a few minutes or until they are spooked or just wander off. Re: If you were to buy a E bike ??

Yes vote from me. :-bd E bikes are a great addition to conventional cycles. They reduce the number of cars as less able bodies are cycling. More people are commuting on them . I am overtaken by many on my commute to work. Having chatted to the few riders I can momentarily keep up with, they all have...

Agreed! Been miserable commuting to work. Morning not so bad, light after 2/3 hrs riding. Evenings between 6-9pm it's dark, damp and miserable. Always seems a northerly wind ,some days it takes 4hrs ,don't get home til 10pm if it's blustery. However, chins up everyone! It's getting lighter ever...

Most cheaper flask's perform reasonably well in my experience. Biggest problem with most , is that they leak as the seal fail due to growing or distortion or shrinking! Still have a constant metallic taste in the mouth, approximately 10% of things smell different too. When outdoors ,I seem to smell a hamster cage smell quite regularly. Second jab resul...

I regularly carry stuff on my planet X Fork bag and mounts on my fox forks. Especially a 1.5ltr or 1ltr stainless steel flask. The cable ties are ok if not carrying heavy weight items. However ,found using the jubilee clips with some inner tube to protect the fork the best option. Handling is affect...
