Re: 'Prepping' What's that about?

it is huge in the US, got to love that old cold war paranoia, from my understanding they are prepping for the end of the world scenarios or natural disasters.

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, managed to get out on Friday before the worst of the weather came in so I am now 2/12 and looking good. The plan was to head up to a local area / Iron age fort, it had been nearly a year since my last visit here and what should have been an easy route to the top ...

Re: Brittany, no not Ms Spears

Nice one, let me know how you get on, I am hoping to enter the race as my 50th birthday treat, the whole area is lovely to ride around, I have not been over Rennes way yet but there are a couple of routes that can be merged. https://en.francevelotourisme.com/cycling-destinations/brittany-by-bike I h...

Re: Going back to 10

I am not a fan of the angles the rear mech is working through, the slightest knock and the gears go out of kilter, plus the look of the huge cassette is ugly as. My biggest concern is the rear derailleur it's self, being mostly composite I am reminded of the older X9 derailleur's I used to break for...

Re: Going back to 10

The PG1210 cassette allows eagle on a non XD driver hub so swapping back will not be a issue, for me 10 speed is super reliable, I am not a fan of huge cassettes.

Going back to 10

Hi all, a bit of a strange once, I recently picked up my new bike which has Eagle SX 12spd, while it is nice I am not really a fan, I am thinking of staying 1x, mostly because the frame does not have front mech routing and using a 10 speed set up for reliability and cost, a 28 or 30T with 11-42 cass...

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.

Managed to get one on the 2020 scoreboard, a cheeky run out after work last Friday to my favourite canal side retreat and my first time out on the Sonder with an almost full load. I have been struggling to get back on the bike after nearly two years off, loving the new bike, the Frontier is pretty s...

Re: Genesis Vagabond - any good?

I have two over the last few years, a really nice bike to ride, handles well, the only real downside, the reach was not really long enough for me, I wish it shared the geometry of the Genesis Croix de Fer, plus anything cage mounts on the fork, it really could use them.

Re: What you doing next year?

Next year is getting married for me, my biggest adventure yet. But I have permission from the other half to have a week away on the bike, with a few friends I am planning on riding down to see the start of the Transcontinental in Brest, but use part of the route from the Gravel Tro Breizeh event to ...

Normal Gear outer will do, Rohloffs are built up using special 1.1mm gear cables, fibrax and Sram do them. The official Rohloff cable are 5mm like brake cables.

Re: Brittany, no not Ms Spears

Apologies for the late reply and thanks for the information, I am slowly putting a route together, the Hulegoat area is great and the Monts D'Aree will feature on the loop, I am going to look at gpx tracks from Gravel tro Breizeh for help and inspiration.

A beautiful bike, I wish it was in my size as I would love one of these but sadly we no longer make them, if you have not already done it you might want to post this in the Thorn forums http://www.thorncyclesforum.co.uk/ as there are collectors out there.

Tent life

I actually managed two outings last month, the second was a stag bivvy and while not a pure bivvy night it was good to get out and try out some new kit. I am going to do a review later this week of the Appkit Soloist tent, I hope you enjoy.

Hi Loki, I’m thinking of getting one of these, would you mind dropping your thoughts about it once you’ve tried it out?
