Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

Dont see how mesh can be heavier (.and its not on the stealth trekker tent ) Why do you object ? Genuine question Too cold in this climate, condensation on inside of flysheet more likely to drip through and wet sleeping bag etc. Just looked at Hilleberg website, they now say "Mesh Inner Tent. ...

Re: Wheelset choice

What wheelset? I have a Prime Baroudeur Disc Rear( Wiggle) about 2 months old running a 38 mm tubeless without issue. Freewheel ia not the quickest to pick up but its fine. Not overly noisy nor is it silent. Yeah, the Prime Baroudeur is one of them (19mm internal), the other is the Prime Orra (24mm...

Re: 1400 metre climb over 100km ??

Not sure what the question is here?
Is it any 100km routes with 1400m of climbing?
If so, there must be loads of them.
I did 70km yesterday with 1000m of climbing, and it wasn't a particularly hilly route for around here.

Same here.
I've got two pairs of the Trailcross XT boots, one for summer in my normal size and one for winter in half a size bigger to allow for extra socks. Works well.

Re: Liner, Quilt, or Better Bag?

I've had a Snugpak Softie 3 Merlin since the mid 90s, great bags, and I used mine a lot back then when I was doing a lot of touring. I also carried a goretex bivi bag and found that on colder nights that would significantly improve warmth as well as protecting against condensation. I've now got a SO...

If it's one from the years of the emmissions cheating & has had the update, i've heard peeps saying that they can notive the change, so definitely worth taking into consideration.. VW Transporter (and variants) wasn't affected by the emissions scandal, some versions had the EA189 engine but the...

Re: How much grief can I expect?

I spent a lot of time looking at different vans. Was replacing an Leyland Daf 200! Asked the mechanic (with whom I spent a lot of time, being a Leyland Daf owner!) about which ones he sees the least of, and he said go for a French one. They're cheaper than the German ones, are more reliable and rus...

Anyone have experience of the Sprayway All Day Rain trousers or Craghoppers Stefan ones? They seem to do the job but not sure how waterproof they are. I've had a pair of the Craghoppers Stefan trousers for a couple of years now. They're ok in light to moderate rain for a while, but in heavy rain th...

Anyone tried The Protein Works meals as an alternative to the usual suspects? Just had a nosey at these, 345 calories per meal doesn't sound like much? No that's true, but not everyone needs 600 calories in their meal. And as this stuff seems to come in tubs you can always take a bit more with you....

Cheaper, but need to make up your own pouches, or rehydrate them in the pan, but they look an interesting alternative.
