Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

September done. I sort of had company for this one, just in spirit. The lovely Ernesto (who put together the Montanas Vascias route(s) in Spain) came up with the idea of SIMOONTANEA , where folk camp out on the night of the last full moon of the summer. Apparently last night saw participants in... (...

👋 Still alive! 👋

(Crap night's sleep though. Mat deflated at 1am, and despite finding the hole and fixing it with Gorilla tape, never really got back to sleep properly.)

Just home from an evening putting the world to rights with a very good friend. Couple of pints of Hofbräu Dunkel amongst others. Very nice dark lager, would drink again.

Re: Super compact double

My set up for a while has been an XT chainset (FC-M785) with 40/28 rings. I've tried various combinations of drop bar shifters and road front mechs, including an old XT, and Claris and Tiagra mechs with a Jtek offset shim* to account for the wider chainline. Currently running GRX400 shifters and mec...

Yup. We've also got Ed Clancey as the Active Travel Commissioner for S. Yorks, who seems to have enlisted the services of Emily Chappell to help with PR.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

August ticked off with a Sunday night trip to what is becoming my regular spot. It may sound unimaginative or boring, but it's a sanctuary. A quick sidestep out of the usual path of modern life, I can sit here, lie down amongst the trees still observing the wider world, yet unseen by it. As I draine...

In defence of midges

Apparently they're good for breaking down organic matter, as a food source for birds and bats, and tasty as a burger.
I'm not convinced that these pro points outweigh the obvious bitey downsides TBQH.

Re: tyre Sealant

I've tried regular Stan's, Muc Off, Schwalbe, Peaty's, and have settled on Stan's Race. Not cheap, but I'm on my 3rd litre bottle across multiple bikes, and am yet to notice a puncture that it's failed to seal. Edit: just remembered I've also used Conti and Nutrak over the years. Stan's Race still w...

I see your Bikemonger quote, on my walk back California Farm on the 2nd day, I walked passed the old Bikemonger Shop…. Is it still a thing? Looked a bit sorry for itself. I know Charlie sold up but you’d think you’d keep it as a fairly well known brand. He sold the business, I think the guys who ru...
