Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

Another evening pootle into the Peak for me. The plan was to meet a couple of friends at the pub. In the event, only one turned up, the other citing summat about too much work, and too much beer, and too many hills... https://www.instagram.com/p/BjAqekXnOqh/ So, two of us headed up the road, down a ...

Re: Footpaths

I ride in the Peak District, usually out of peak (ha!) times.
I ride paths, footpaths, bridleways, roads.
I always try to be friendly and considerate to all other people. This has included walkers, rangers, other cyclists, horse riders.
I've never found myself in any conflict with others.

Badger Divide?
200 miles from Inverness to Glasgow. Mostly off road. Not super technical riding. Heading east down the Corrieyairack Pass was the roughest bit, we were on 'adventure' bikes and handled it fine.

Re: Wanted - seatpack, 13 litre or similar

The Alpkit bags are OK, but aren't as structurally stiff/rigid as more 'standalone' seatpacks (it's designed as an inner bag really). I've got decent results by: 1) Make sure the narrow end (where it attaches to the seatposts) is really tightly packed. Use small items like socks, pants etc to really...

Re: Simple drop bar conversion

I don't think there are any road STIs that combine triple and hydraulic brakes, either from Shimano or SRAM. For Shimano, I *think* that things might be further complicated by differing cable pull ratios between road and MTB groups, even at the same 'speed' level. You'd need to check that out too (w...

Re: Lost? When...

I think the last time I was lost was when I no longer appeared to be on the footpath I was meant to be following. This would probably be less noteworthy had the footpath in question not been the Pennine Way where it crosses Bleaklow. I suspect that's about as close to the rambling equivalent of a mo...

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

April ticked off. Left just as the sun was setting, and pootled up the hills and out into the Peak District to meet a couple of friends (who'd travelled by car!!!). As I neared my destination, they alerted me to a minor change of plans as out intended site was already occupied! That's what nice weat...

Last night's ride. Gentle slog uphill into a headwind, realise I've forgotten my water bottle. Stop off at pub, couple of pints, buy a couple of bottles of water. Get to the bivvy spot, realise I've left the bottled water at the pub. FML. Good thing my riding buddy had enough with him for us both to...

G ones have been good for me on anything solid; gravel, tarmac, hardpack etc. Roll very nicely.
Not happy in anything gloopy (mud, snow etc.) but it doesn't sound like you're after gloop tyres.

Used my 400 for the first time last night. Landlord at the pub I stopped at before my bivvy reckoned the temperature was 1°C and it stayed clear all night. I didn't die of hypothermia. YMMV.

My hopes of BAM were dashed early on, with a respiratory infection that left me coughing up blood for a week in January. Since then, I've spent far too much time thinking about getting outside, and not enough time doing it. There's always an excuse: the weather, lack of time, lack of company... So l...
