Re: Bivvy a month 2023.
Another month, another box ticked. Close to giving up on the BAM thing, the shift in season and in particular the lack of light is doing crappy things to my mood and motivation. Anyway, another short and local one to somewhere with a bit of shelter. Good points: Found my groundsheet; got out, slept ...

Re: Sleeping on it
I bought a Borah fairly recently, definitely post Brexit. Don't think I got stung for any customs charges either, though that may have been down to UK Customs trying to work out what on earth they were going to do with stuff arriving from the EU.

Mmm, if we're looking at synthetic too, I find the Alpkit Vayper very light and non stinky.

I have at least now run all of it, albeit not in one go. Not sure if I'll enter the big event, I'm focussing on distance rather than speed, and like to stop and admire the light through the trees etc.

Re: Today's Run
Went to have a go at the Round Sheffield Run route. Took it easy, walked the steep bits, feeling pretty good until about the halfway mark when I rolled my ankle. Bah. Walked down to the main road and got rescued by my wife.

Pricey, but I've found the Patagonia Capilene t shirts good, noticeably better wicking than pure merino.

Meanwhile, in the "What aren't you drinking now?" thread, the Sheffield Beer Festival is cancelled for this evening due to flood risk.

Will tell you all the BWs/BOATs/RUPPs you definitely can ride. IME (asking Derbyshire Council) permissive ROWs won't be marked on the definitive mapIf you want the legal status consult the Definitive RoW Map and Schedule that should be held and maintained by the local authority.

SO 24099 37660. Had a little cry here, the good kind. I was feeling a little bit overwhelmed, very exhilarated, and very much like I belonged in the landscape.
SO 02661 46385. Obscenities were screamed as I swiftly lost altitude, knowing that I'd very soon have to regain it.

I've moved on to Coalition, a hazy pale from Abbeydale. Claims to be a collaboration with the Hungry Bhudda, which is well worth a visit if you're ever in Sheffield city centre and fancy some Nepalese food for not too much money.
