Re: WTD - Mojo

The Squares on Veloviewer might be good though I can't really seem to get it to work... do I need to be a paid up Strava member? I've paid the £10 for Veloviewer but can only see 25 squares. Not keen on forking out for Strava I'm not a paid up Strava user and Veloviewer works well for me - I normal...

Re: Today's Run

At the moment I just use a cheap OEX headtorch the missus picked up for a tenner from go outdoors a couple of years ago - it's not the brightest (150 lumens) but I've used it up to 90 minutes at a time on full and has a handy red led mode that I've used bikepacking. If you want longer running times ...

That looks rather nice, a trip in france has been on my bucket list for a few years now. I just have to get over my fear in my 35 year old knowledge of French.

Re: WTB rims and tyres! Is it just me, or are they a PITA?

wtb resolute on wtb i19 rims are a pain - I got them on with some swearing but I've not been able to take them off again so my winter tyres have become all year round tyres. I've got a set of 44mm byways just gathering dust because I can't get them on the bike - I might have to admit defeat and book...

A kindle, sit mat, merino long johns and a spare pair of pants are my ‘luxury’ items. I didn’t take a sit mat on my last trip which was a mistake since it’s so much more useful than just sitting on it

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!

Oh I took every pain killer I could get my hands on - a couple of days of a 2 hourly rotation of paracetamol, ibuprofen and the codeine i had left over from the procedure I had in February.

It probably had far more to do with not being able to eat much more than the occasional banana.

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!

it would appear that tooth ache followed by tooth extraction is a great weight loss regime - lost over 2kg in 5 days. (75.85 to 73.4) I'm not sure I'd recommend it though.

Re: Has bike packing (off the beaten track ) gone full circle?

Oddly, I have a hankering for doing a traditional tour with panniers, going from campsite to campsite - mostly because I've never done one. Considering how much B&Bs cost now, the savings would pay for the rack and panniers I dont have

Another 18km from Solva down to Broadhaven along the coastal path. We’ve been walking either on or parallel to NCN 4 for most of the day so it’d be interesting to come back here on the bike.

Re: Todays walk

Did a 17km loop out to St David’s and then back on the coastal path. You can’t even see the cathedral until you’re in town because it’s nestled into a hillside.

A very soggy 23km from Haverfordwest to Sorva - the coastal path in horizontal rain was an interesting experience though fortunately the wind was blowing from the sea. I definitely found the limit of my waterproofs so not one bit of me was dry by the end

I believe the term “rack packing” is en vogue. Sounds sexier than touring.

Re: CyB and Nant Yr Arian closing ...

At 8 quid a day, I wouldn't entirely blame him for not paying for parking. I only pay if I'm taking the kids, otherwise I ride from home. There's so many trails, both marked and unmarked on the chase that the only reason to stick to the dog & monkey is if you specifically want man-made features.
