Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!
Oh I took every pain killer I could get my hands on - a couple of days of a 2 hourly rotation of paracetamol, ibuprofen and the codeine i had left over from the procedure I had in February.
It probably had far more to do with not being able to eat much more than the occasional banana.

it would appear that tooth ache followed by tooth extraction is a great weight loss regime - lost over 2kg in 5 days. (75.85 to 73.4) I'm not sure I'd recommend it though.

Re: Has bike packing (off the beaten track ) gone full circle?
Oddly, I have a hankering for doing a traditional tour with panniers, going from campsite to campsite - mostly because I've never done one. Considering how much B&Bs cost now, the savings would pay for the rack and panniers I dont have

Re: Todays walk
Another 18km from Solva down to Broadhaven along the coastal path. We’ve been walking either on or parallel to NCN 4 for most of the day so it’d be interesting to come back here on the bike.

Re: Todays walk
Did a 17km loop out to St David’s and then back on the coastal path. You can’t even see the cathedral until you’re in town because it’s nestled into a hillside.

Re: Todays walk
A very soggy 23km from Haverfordwest to Sorva - the coastal path in horizontal rain was an interesting experience though fortunately the wind was blowing from the sea. I definitely found the limit of my waterproofs so not one bit of me was dry by the end

I believe the term “rack packing” is en vogue. Sounds sexier than touring.

Apparently midges don’t like the smell of coffee grounds do perhaps a dab behind each ear and wrist would work?

At 8 quid a day, I wouldn't entirely blame him for not paying for parking. I only pay if I'm taking the kids, otherwise I ride from home. There's so many trails, both marked and unmarked on the chase that the only reason to stick to the dog & monkey is if you specifically want man-made features.

Re: Last month's run - a health warning PSA
Glad to hear it's all treatable and the fix is to just put your feet up for a bit. I'll admit that I always have so many little aches and pains before, during and after a run that I tend to ignore them or I'd never get out the door

SRAM RED XPLR AXS (WTF?) for those people where 12 speeds isn't enough and they have a UDH frame.

We'll be comparing hornby sets next... now you're talking :ugeek: Ha, I've just remembered I have an Intercity 125 Hornby train set (oddly enough, only 4 carriages a la Scotrails ones) at Mum and Dad's which was the basis of quite a setup I had and played with when I was a nipper. I guess it's wort...

I've only ever used orange seal endurance - I do have an emergency mini bottle of stans purely because its small enough to take on trips but I've never had to use it since the orange seal has just done its job.

I don't think we'll suddenly see a lot of Pinarello mountain bikes despite them being ridden to both olympic golds - the rear wheel alone cost $2800!

I left a facebook group because of the anti-cyclists on the road rhetoric - the irony being that it was a MTB group.

Re: Pain and suffering
There's a section of the NCR trail to gnosall that every summer shrinks down to about 6" wide as you plow through 50 foot of nettles. Even if wearing trousers and knee high waterproof socks I still get the odd sting.
