Re: 2 person tent recommendations

We have an MSR elixir 2 as well and would agree with samwise. Really good quality, spacious for 2 and tough...weighs about 2.5 kg so not the lightest but ok if you split it between 2 or use it for car camping.

Re: OT Heat Pumps and Solar

If you have solar pv with a feed-in tariff, it’s well worth having an i-boost fitted for domestic hot water supply. When your pv is generating electricity it sends a signal which automatically sets off the immersion heater, powered direct off the pv and you still get your pv payment...so effectively...

Hello (WRT content)

Hello all... doing my first WRT this year all being well (just getting over a mild bout of Covid!) Decided against the Lonely Hearts Club; not because I’m unsociable but because I had a specific route in mind, which fortunately tallies with a good bunch of this year’s grid references 😊. Anyway I’ll ...

Re: Bar harnesses - recommendation

I bought a second hand alpkit kanga a few years ago which is ok with drops and straight bars but no good with my ‘on one Mikes’, because the forward wiggle of the bar catches the raised part of the harness. My solution is to do away with the harness and just use an airlock 20 dry bag velcroed to the...

Re: Schwalbe g one all round TLE 29x2.25 tubeless ready

Standard courier pick up delivery is £5.12, call it a fiver, so £40 all in...I weighed them on the old kitchen scales and they’re about 600g each which seems pretty light for a big old 29er tyre!

*SOLD* Schwalbe g one all round TLE 29x2.25 tubeless ready

Fat, free rolling 29er tyres, tubeless ready, Kevlar bead, lightweight. Only done about 250 miles. Used with tubes so inside is clean and uncontaminated, ready for mounting tubeless. Some discolouration but not really noticeable and look great on. See Cass Gilbert’s review: https://bikepacking.com/g...

Re: Sleeping Bag Rated to -6 and a tent 3 edging into 4 season tent

I was looking for the same 2 items and ended up with a Forclaz 900 3-season down bag from decathlon. Haven’t tried it yet but it seems very good quality and also comes with a midge net. Also bought a used macpac minaret tent, which is a bit weighty but fantastic quality and very robust..if it’s just...

Re: Moel Famau?

Haven’t been for a while but from memory It’s a bit like the long mynd - fast short-grass sections, bit of stony stuff and bits of forest roads. There was a feature ride in Singletrack issue 121 a couple of years ago. There’s a lot of bridleways and permissive tracks to ride. Moel Famau path is usua...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

I bought this Marin Eldridge grade for £30 and have stripped it, given it a thorough clean and got it going again. The rear shifter wasn’t working but was just gunged up, freewheel was stuck and all the cables needed renewing. Had to get the LBS to true rear wheel as the spoke threads were seized an...

FS: Alex Volar 29er tubeless compatable wheelset/Kenda smallblock 8 29 x 2.1 tyres

These were standard issue on my Genesis Vagabond and have not seen a great deal of use. The tyres have hardly been used at all and are the wired non-tubeless variety, but they roll nicely and look really nice in their skinwall finish. The wheels have had a bit more use, but are running straight and ...

* SOLD * For sale - Vango spirit 200+ 2 person tent.

This is quite old but has been well looked after. The inner is nice and clean and not mouldy! Last year I gave it a good overhaul - re proofed with Graingers; poles repaired (new sections inserted); 10 new Alpkit pegs; zip cinched up and treated with candle wax so that it opens and closes smoothly. ...

Fabric Scoop Radius Elite Saddle 142mm

I bought this in May from Merlin for £40.00 and have used it for 2 rides. It doesn't suit my arse, although judging by the positive reviews, it suits every bugger elses! Cro mo rails - 256g...fantastic build quality, up there with Fizik! As new, £30 posted. [ https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1799/2999...

Parked up at Snailbeach (South Shropshire) and climbed up to Blakemoor gate where I stopped a while at the lovely restored Miner's cottages...apparently the cottages were erected under Squatter's rights albeit the landowner had no great objections as he needed the inhabitants to work down his mines!...

Thanks all for all your info..its a lot to take in! I have had quite a few punctures recently. I remember when all the farmers used to cut the hedges around October/November time and that was it, but recently they seem to have been hedge cutting right through the winter.

tubeless advice please

Hello. I have read about the advantages of going tubeless, but have never tried it...but i'm ready now to take the plunge. I have a pair of 29" alex rims which are tubeless ready (off my 2017 Vagabond) and some 29 x 2.4 conti x king and mountain king - folding bead "pro tection" - the...
