Re: Hydration - how much liquid do you consume on a ride?

There are almost infinite variables of course, but very interesting seeing all the different replies. I'll plan my route around ability to stop at 30-40 miles for water if I'm going far, either a tap of some kind or where I can buy some bottles if free water isn't reasonable close by on route. This ...

Hydration - how much liquid do you consume on a ride?

So this has come about as a result of this thread (if you're interested): http://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13826 basically a query over why I would like/need to use a 3ltr bladder in a frame bag. So I'm interested in how much other people consume whilst riding and how...

Re: Frame bag for 3ltr bladder

At this time of year my need/desire to drink while riding diminishes a lot but even in summer I'd never be going through a litre per hour. In fact I'd not be drinking half that amount and most of my rides would be around the 3 hour mark. Maybe a separate thread on rehydration requirements would thr...

Re: Frame bag for 3ltr bladder

Now I'm worried I drink too much! I always get through roughly 1ltr water every 10 miles +/- of high effort mountain biking, my rides are always 30 miles plus. If I just bimble along then I drink much less water. I'd read up on Hyponatremia I should add I carry either electrolyte powder or 'energy'...

Re: Frame bag for 3ltr bladder

Yea I'm not a fan of the poo covered water bottle, that's what made me go to hydration bladder ages ago.
What you've said gives another option, a full frame bag and put everything in it...

Couple of little purchases arrived this week… A pack-away rucksack for trips to The Spar to carry all those essential Ginsters I mean salads when out riding  http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k110/markPC/2017%20Bivy/rucksack.jpg Both cheap as chips, weigh nothing but will make life a little e...

Frame bag for 3ltr bladder

Does anyone know which frame bags will take a 3ltr bladder, not necessarily looking for a full triangle bag, but one that mounts along to top tube, leaving access to the seat and down tube bottle bosses? I've tried a Alpkit Analoko 48 (4ltr capacity) but the full bladder barely fits in let along zip...

My Ti Goat bivy is marked as delivered in the USPS tracking system but it hasn't been delivered to me. I'm still hoping it may turn up but I suspect I'm going to be filling in a claim form :| USPS did that on one of my packages once. Went to parcel farce website and keyed in the USPS tracking numbe...

Re: The post man's been ...

I've got one, at low speed I have to wiggle the bars to make it ring, but with a bit more speed it works well. Works best of all off road, and is received much better by walkers than my old bell ... there are still the ignorant/deaf/wearing earphones walkers/runners who just get the surprise of me b...

Re: Wheel and tyre sizes

Kumquat My current bars have a slight rise, I'm going to try flipping the stem round and moving the spacers back tomorrow, my fear is that with such a slack head angle that the higher the bars go also the further back I'm pushed and it's quite cramped as it is and the saddle is as far back as it can...

Re: Wheel and tyre sizes

Hi jameso! I see where this is leading  a more suitable bike. Everything you've said is spot on. Gangly extremities have led to a racey riding position ... and it is great for smashing out speed, but not comfortable. I noticed what you said, about bar height, when looking at bike people use to ...

Re: Wheel and tyre sizes

I've just got a boardman full suspension 650b and I can honestly say it's an absolute bargain. On offer at Halfords for 1200quid. Very comfortable and far better ride than my previous 3k trek. My 29er hardtail is now redundant because it feels like a bone shaker in comparison The 650+ I've been eye...

Re: Wheel and tyre sizes

Bearbonesnorm: After the bike fitting things were a lot better, before really long rides were agony, so the fitting helped a lot but I guess the chap got the best fitting he could for 'me' on 'that' bike. Maybe one "do it all bike" isn't the best solution, it probably isn't really the best...

Wheel and tyre sizes

I thought I would ask on a bikepacking forum rather than a mountain biking forum :) Coffee fuelled ramble; Why do I ask? I've been riding a 29er hard tail for the last 2 n a half years, as I've got fitter I've pushed longer and harder. I'm not ready to buy a bivy yet as I have a young family and oth...
