Impressed that you're even having a go Tim. Dark art. You should have a go Chris, admittedly I only did after the winter Bivvy debacle when I found out the Broadrib cycles in Banbury are absolutely sub standard. It’s not a dark art at all. The last wheel I built was with squorx nipples which made t...

Very glad you survived there, HOTT. I've bought an extra cake for next week and can't eat two. What with this episode and the Dartmoor HOTT one I think I'm going to transfer my official Rain God badge over to you  . Erm, just in case you don't, er, you know, make it back at all next time, wh...

Re: The post man's been ...
A Sturmey Archer 5-spd hub, a pile of very short spokes, nipples and a wee little rim. Soon to be a new rear wheel for my Brompton. It's been a long time since I spent two days hunched over a mangled pile of wheel gubbins, hands cramping, covered in sweat, swearing at the dog and questioning my san...

I’ve used a hope, it’s been going for about 5 years with multiple bearing changes  really they are all just holders for the bearings and I expect little to choose between them. I pop the seals off regularly flush and regrease. When they go buy decent quality replacements from a bearing supplier...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Cheers, it’s been fun. Chasing the squares has taken me to some great places, and Swindon.
I’ve waded through rivers, snuck through MOD land and found some great countryside. One thing it does is to give a deep understanding of how the landscape changes.

There’s a little area in my veloviewer explorer square which I’ve been putting off for a while, it was a bit of a mess with orphaned squares and a chunk of Swindon, plus a few off the ridgeway. Checked the weather forecast, 7 degrees with some light rain Only .1-.3 mm an hour, not enough to get you ...

I'm not saying a word... :d Good, about time people stopped being cheery on days other than Friday. Honestly is just frivolous and has to stop. If you do decide to fit a rack I can recommend the tortec rack I fitted to mine https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Tortec-Tour-Ultralite-Rear-Pannier-Rack_3043.htm?sku=20571&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google_shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjw07qDBhBxEiwA6pPbHoKELqO5X-A4VQEjjSg-dhFUdhwSbF1V-n3LV1Dfl_wF...

Carefully aligned with valve as per rules, but I’ve inadvertently done this from the non-drive side.Next there will be people with valves not aligned with tyre logos
ARRRH! The logos are mis-aligned on the drive side,
Shoddy manufacturing, enough to push a man over the edge

Re: Todays ride
Had a lovely ride skirting the ridgeway to day, just shy of 50miles. Despite fair warning from the met office I wore the same kit as yesterday. Managed to salvage it with my rab windtop and some vinyl work gloves. Went past the Hadron collider where clever people search for answers to questions I do...

Re: Going tubeless...
It makes a huge difference where I ride, hawthorns mean punctures are a certainty, my record was 14 and a walk home. I’ll often hear the ‘ tink tink tink’ sound of a hawthorn twig hitting the fork or chainstay, I stop, pull them out and ride off. As others have mentioned reseating a tubeless tyre in...

Not sure about that, I did however play a lot of Hendrix with my brother, me on bass, him on guitar.
My great grandfather was a Cherokee Indian, Hendrix was half Cherokee so my brother claimed to be related to him as well!

If anything it’s overbuilt, I expect you’d be fine strapping a log to to front.

Fitted one of those cheap 2.6” Mezcals to the front of my Fargo, nice tyres
still roll really well with the near continuous centre blocks but have chunkier and wider spaced knobs so hopefully a bit more grip. Wish I’d got one for the rear as well as I think we have a winner.
