Re: Three Lions Tour: June Chilterns beerpacking

Sadly looking like I’m out, Mrs D has booked a weekend away in York in my absence. Can’t really complain, WRT followed by 10 days tramping around Spain, bound to cost me. Alls not lost yet I just need to hide the children somewhere.

Re: Lost my Trailshot primary filter

Mines a katadyn befree ,think it was only about £28 and works as well as my Vario filter used it in puddles and stuff I really shouldn't have Befree convert here too, although theoretically it suffers from the same limitations as the squeeze it’s a nice bit of kit. I’ve been using it in Spain mainl...

Re: Suggest a drop bar MTB frame?

An older Fargo - from before they went boost - think that was 2017/18 or something like that. It has old standard hub spacing and 44mm headtube that can go straight or tapered steerer’s. Large would do you fine I picked up a 2015 jobbie on eBay end of last year and am loving it. The newer Fargo can...

Clipless for me, I like the float of my candy’s so put up with the maintenance. If you like the interface shimano anything SPD are fairly bombproof.

5/12 -29 in a row

May ticked off with the WRT, cold one with frozen water bottles. My lad was ok though he had the winter bag and a fleece onesie :-bd

Re: WRT 2019 Story Telling

This year my lad John decided he’d like to come along, he’s been out several times with me including November and February’s BAM. Met up with Tim and Stu at BB HQ, after the usual banter and prizes we headed out for the hills, I’d warned John that it might be ‘slightly undulating’ (TM pickers) and s...

Should be a nice contrast to the WRT weather, although sunny during the day it dropped to -2 overnight. Our water bottles were like shushies. Just packing the bike, glad my lad wanted an early finish it’s taken loads more time than I thought it would. Now on to clothing......I’ll be packing pretty l...

Re: Commuting road tyre options

Have you looked at Schwalbe allmotion’s? I ran a set on the surly. Really fast rolling, near the top end in tests apparently. Good puncture resistance and I think they go up to 2.35 if you want big ones, got big mileage out of them as well.

On the subject of music, I was reading the stooge cycles blog and he had a section about favourite music. My lads still up for it, I haven’t shown him the forecast but he’s getting suspicious about the extra layers I’m packing.

Should really take some for him as well :-bd

Re: Garmin Killer? New Wahoo content

Most garmin’s use mini USB, a much tougher connector. Please why can’t USB C be used?
Anything apart from micro, even a good old fashioned barrel connector would be preferable.
The amount of kit with broken micro’s I’ve junked over the years could buy be a new bike :-bd

Re: Garmin Killer? New Wahoo content

The micro usb connector would be a deal breaker for me. Micro usb is the work of the devil, they all break in the end. When it’s on a cheap light or battery it’s one thing, on an expensive GPS? No thanks.

A solution was found, i'm not proud of it....I've built hydraulic stuff for Rolls Royce. But working away in Bristol and London this week something had to be done. using the hose fittings from a kit and the banjo from the old Sram caliper I present the DI e 2 junction box....before too long frames w...

More brake woes

Postie delivered my new disks and adapter but now the hose is too tight. To be honest it’s been that way since I fitted the wider bars. Due to the hose fitting inside the brake reservoir the universal hose kit won’t fit as the banjo connector fouls the cap. I could buy a longer sram hose but they ar...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

I've been having some trouble with gear changes on the road bike. Rear mech didn't want to play properly. New hanger, checked cables, adjusted screws but still not happy with down-changes once up-changes were dialled in. Eventually narrowed it down to a sticky jockey wheel. I salvaged one out of an...
