Oh, and the run to Castle Hill was without any extra layers and just the berghaus top. Usually really cold up there as it's about 240m up (not too high, I know), exposed and freezing...

Re: Today's Run

Training for this Yorkshire Man marathon in Sept and trying not to hurt my knees in the process. This last couple of weeks was a bit, 'on the edge'. Last week whilst riding with my final fasting ride I tried to chase a lycra cyclist on his gravel bike. Silly move as I was obviously never catching hi...

Re: Anyone local to these areas able to review (sections of) my route pls?

Been looking at the route as well as suggestions today. Thanks so much for all the input and especially those that helped by editing some gps files. After atk and someone earlier mentioned the Panorama Walkway and Andy put it in the file - meaning I could see there wasn't much extra mileage to the t...

Re: New Trail Shoes

Hi Pete. Not sure if reduced drop (like 4mm as compared to standard 10mm from heel to toes) is gonna be a put-off. But, there is an up and coming company called TOPO. If you type in Topo Athletic you'll find plenty info about them and reviews from most users are excellent. Thing that sold me (as wel...

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!

Second day of inermittent fasting today (aside from the ramadhan fasting which is always full-on and finished a few days ago). Been using this app free version https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.fastic.app My biggest problem is eating late. So yesterdays meal at 2000 was my last, been ...

Thanks very much Andy. Will go over it all again shortly and absorb all the info. Panorama walkway will probably take me too far off track as there is some climbs that need keeping in through Wales.

Really appreciate everyones help and will look at my choices around Manchester also.

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!

NB. Since I did mention religion (and I try not to as I know it irritates people these days, sorry) I may as well elaborate. In Islam we're encouraged to remember that the body is on loan from God. One day it will go back and we'll be questioned about it and how we looked after it. Hence my plan is ...

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!

Fri 12th Jan - 86.0kg Sat 9th Mar - 88.5kg Not sure what gone on there. Entered a marathon and runnng more, cycling less (cos target is 63miles or nothing which on hindsight might be a bit silly!). Lots of food going in I guess or maybe the muscles are becoming more dense. Belly still looks a bit p...

Re: Anyone local to these areas able to review (sections of) my route pls?

Thanks 'Frog at'... Them extra few metres of elevation were a hard fought find so will stay right in there. Regards gravel, just as we approach Manchester after (probably) the hardest push out of Huddersfield on the top edge of the Peaks (about 5 miles of slog with wind and full exposure... usually ...

Hi Shaf  Your route looks like it goes actually past my house, (south of Wrexham) but the scale is wrong for me to be sure. I’ll pm you my location and you can confirm. Or you can send me the gpx. If you are coming my way, perhaps I can suggest some changes. Have you fixed a date yet. It’d be...

Move south a little here Shaf. Plenty of off road tracks over the mountains. Some may not be 100% legal RoW but they're well used by bikes. https://i.imgur.com/QeJFelE.jpg Already sorted that Stu. Have changed it to the singletrack paved roads just above the A5. At the end of this I think I'll prob...

A nice, flat well surfaced blast to the finish. Better than the A458, especially Mucklow Hill towards the end! https://www.komoot.com/tour/1506840282?share_token=a0OH7Acuxdnmmib3eBgdJuRaXMRj8GjU9A107TCe7wlLwzd86z&ref=wtd Appreciate that UtR... Does that mean I'm losing alot of my elevation? and...

Here we go https://youtu.be/EGAqbci0w_Q?si=4VhDzyNsWQABN3G2 On topic of the name of the Angel Gabriel (peace be upin him) - another one if you're on Who wants to be a millionaire - the arabs didn't have a history of receiving messengers as regularly as the Jewish tribes. So when Jibraeel (PBUH) came...
