Re: 2025 - A year to look forward to? What are your plans?
Nor me. He doesn't know a 'comfortable pace' is my thinking. Madness. Don't blame me for my legs for being over eager! the second to last sentence I put together was on a Telegram group of bikers. Talking about gravel tyres and mtb. It went like this, and was referring to a Bearbones Tyre th...

Re: Fat Fighter 2025 - The Year of the Fat Slob
But first here's a look back at my efforts (HA!!!) in this thread (life) thus far..... Interesting. I'll have to have a look at mine (but high / low probably). Edit - Jesus, not sure what happened with today's weigh in, but added over a kg in a single day! Unrelated... high / low from the l...

Recommendation pls: mtb tyres on a gravel type bike?
Something to cover the Peaks. Nothing weak with prone sidewalls. Something with decent grip and around 45mm in a 700c rim flavour. Anyone got any decent suggestions pls. Asking for my mate Glenn. Convinced the lads to come out and do the NorthPeaks100 with me. They'll have fun  Obviously I'm n...

Rodger that. We will have to keep a look out in march 😄. Good luck tomorrow. Do you get on some kind of NHS quick list if you fall off tomorrow 👍👍😂😂 If I fall off, they say, 'we told you so'. Always get them smiles of, 'you cycled from where' from colleagues usually. But in the back of the head I k...

Re: Wtd 700c spiked tyre 700c
Cheers shaf Going to risk it with a spiked front and a ranger on the rear. Pure speedway style. As long as I have grip on the front i should be ok. Famous last words. I will give you an update 🤦😁😁🤞 I've just messaged the client I'm going to jab tomorrow (not a Mohammed Ali jab), asking if I could c...

Re: Wtd 700c spiked tyre 700c
Stu. Have you thought about the Top Contact Winter Premium. Added advantage that they're tubeless too and without spikes... https://www.cyclinguk.org/article/technical-guide/continental-top-contact-winter-tyre-review BCC seems to agree with the concept https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/tour-r...

Re: Wtd 700c spiked tyre 700c
O pants 🤦 Ah, didn't spot that - wot's 700b then? They have a good returns policy £30 a tyre seems the next best deal.... I've found some Conti Contact Spike 120 700c x 32c at £32 on BikeInn. I'll probably buy and have for the next times the ice comes in. This explains 700c https://www.bikeradar.co...

Re: Patagonia Nano Puff sizing?
Just as an aside I’ve just had my 20 yr old Nano puff repaired by Patagonia for free including free post and return. Excellent service and totally free. My jacket zip had broken and they replaced it with a new one and patched up a few worn bits and tears on various bits of the jacket. It’s a brilli...

Re: Wtd 700c spiked tyre 700c
Thanks Phil and Stu. Yeah, I think I'll have to order a couple of them (in the 30c flavour) or some Conti equivalents. Seems like the tubeless versions are likely hens teeth! Especially in 700 x 32c or thinner!

Re: Wtd 700c spiked tyre 700c
Me and Tony were just talking about these today. What ones do you have pls Stu. I've got a commute on Friday and going by bike. But meeting black ice on my gravel tyres doesn't sound too much fun. Have got Tons (Tony) help to make a route that's traffic-free enough but also trodden well enough by ca...

Re: Patagonia Nano Puff sizing?
Orderd an XL in the down version. £120 from Working Class Hero's, so hopefully can't go wrong. Showed him a pic first and seemed he was quite happy with it.
Let's see how he gets on once it arrives. Very happy at my second ever Patagonia purchase (or 3rd if you include well-used and worn well).

Re: Damsel in distress!
Lol. I thought as much that you'd not really be reliant on snow tyres (or AWD). Story once about my Subaru Legacy (only realised that even the 3L Spec B was just an enthusiasts car and not designed to really go over 200k) was going Scarborough for a shift once. Full all 4 wheels drive with their spe...

Nice1 Bob. I have a client who I work with. A serious case of muscular dystrophy and a small family 2 kids, but no partner at present. I told him a few months ago that I'm not looking forward to him forcing (well, I can hardly say no) me to drive the mobility van upto the singletrack hills where his...
