This is generally the line i will be following until leaving Peaks... feel free to suggest another line as long as it doesnt reduce the elevation or mileage tooo much!!!

Re: BAM March

Thanks guys.. Chew. Reason why i need to go up towards Stockport is cos its partly a 'recce ride' for the khalid bin walid challenge which I'm running with some mates in May. Its 24 hours and steep as i could make it without anyone crying. 200 miles and 13000ft of climb. Hence first climbs are via H...

BAM March

Just wanted some input on what BBs think of my March (will be my 2nd BAm as planning to do my first for this month) BAM hopes. Any input or criticisms/comments will be nice. Will set off with either a bivi bag and phd sleeping bag I bought off IanFitz (obviously everything else too). Tent is an Alpk...

Re: First Dynamo wheel build help!

Thanks all for the assist. At this particular juncture I have (yet again) decided against 'going dynamo'! Let's see what happens next time I'm tempted but at this point I now feel that I know enough to know it's not necessary for me and my needs (though it'd be handy in certain situations and for c...

Re: First Dynamo wheel build help!

After a morning of reading, researching and weighing up options I think I've reached the state of 'dynamo nonsensical information overload' in record time. This happens every time I look into it. I get reinvigorated by the idea of a dynamo setup, start asking around, feel like I'm making progress a...

Re: R@#$a500 prep(aring not to fail)

Got my 1st (and probably last...) badge after the stars aligned at home and Mrs P did Xmas dinner for the first time in 27 years. Chris - how close were you to a route where you'd hit North, South, East and West facing coasts? Not many places you could do that in the UK mainland. Id be interested i...

Re: Ceramic Bearings

Looks like you need to visit Hambini (.co.uk or com) and decide which beaeings you want. He has pink bearings and green bearings.. bearings with little moustaches and soft bearings... hard bearings with soft seals and hard seals wiyh soft bearings... anyways. You catch my drift. If you read up a lit...

Re: First Dynamo wheel build help!

No worries Gairy. I've got the PDF book too. Can't order bits until payday  One thing that hasn't been answered yet is if will the wheel need dish in it with it being a disc or is it a case of seeing when you put it in the frame? I guess I could measure off the current non-dyno wheel in there ...

Re: First Dynamo wheel build help!

Just to throw another small spanner in the works: dont forget that unless you only plan on running lights whilst moving, but rather want some usable power for other things like charging things etc etc. You will need to look at other items to purchasr such as a Sinewave or Plug3; cache battery that c...

Re: WRT - Scary? Unappealing?

Been thinking about this Q for longer than it was posted as I have a similar dilemma with a 200 mile, unsupported, 24H challenge which climbs 13000ft and no drafting is allowed. For charity off course and I normally try to get riders from our local (national) club... The idea was based loosely aroun...

As soon aa I lifted it (1.45kg) I had thoughts that I should send it straight. At least I should hopefully never get a puncture up front!!

Re: WRT - Scary? Unappealing?

I like the idea of an event where there is no fixed route so throwing navigation and route planning into the mix. Adds a lot more to the format than just the usual turn up switch on gps, follow purple line, go home that other ITT's have. You'll end up appreciating the area more (having done all of ...

Re: WRT - Scary? Unappealing?

Personally I think its just too hard for most people as everyone these days wants to be spoon fed... You really dont want to attract thw wrong crowd into such a thing as the people that are suitable would find such a challenge and join themselves. I've only just realised myself what WRT is and would...

Socks. I woukd carry too and always works for me on my Rapha500 (sorry  ) end of year voyage. Was suggested by Mike Hall in one his interviews about how to cheer yourself up mid-ride/race and putting on a warm/fresh pair of socks/underpants (padded underpants) was top of the list.
