27.5 plus wheelset on Hope Pro2 EVOs (Blue)

Hi. Seeling this wheelset as I'm having difficulty parting with it and need the cash for some fundraising activities (like you do... no bragging intended). All proceeds will be split (maybe not exactly and maybe not entirely) between CAGE (ask Gove) and for one of the Palestine project charities. Ho...

Stress Art

Keep it engineering related (buildings, bikes, motors, walls, roads... You get the gist). Behind every stressful point there's always a story and a lesson as well as coping mechanism. My one is this... https://i.imgur.com/EkjokIG.jpg Broke a bolt on a car that they no longer produce parts for. My ow...

Well done Shaf. Thanks. Bled all four ends of brakes. Now, rd test. Always get nervous at these road tests cos I recall when me and mate did the hubs on my Subaru Legacy. Each thought the other had tughtened caliper bolts and one side fell out. Drove it straight to the garage who did a reasonably s...

Alhamdulillah (All Praise God), and very many thanks to all that helped/supported. Brakes back on. New threads slightly off camber but compensated eith the good bolt/hole. Sorry for any disagreements that people may have had on account of myself not willing to fork out £150 on what IMO was daylight ...

Nice1 Hyppy. Nice tap work you got going there. What cutting oil you using  Err … likely a no-no to you proper mechanics but as a one off job (and being only a bottle boss isn't mission-critical) I didn't think it worth buying anything special so just a blast of GT85! 😞 Hope the car's back on...

That said stainless bottle cage bolts corrosion welded into ally frames can be much harder as there is less to hack away at! And there's your occasional reminder to go loosen and retighten all the bolts! Far easier alloy bolts and steel frame but still …  IMG_5133.jpeg Nice1 Hyppy. Nice tap work yo...

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

I wasn't internet flaming at all and nor did I think anyone else was. It was merely stating that it didn't look like a business with any sort of ability to check on quality and that it was more than likely cash in hand. This was in response to some explanations previously about business rates/insura...

Hopefully/God Willing car back on the road in the next few days. Interesting journey. Bike ride this aft maybe to celebrate in advance.

NB. Let me know if you want pics of the pawls/innards. All looks good. Freehub looks a bit bitten but my cassette came right off without issues- so the orientation in which I'd tightened it on obviously worked.

Here we go Faustus. If you like what you see and are interested (sorry, it's the carbon HALO rim up back and the Kinlin front). Without tyres or tubeless valve (sorry) then it's yours for the price of a welded bolt (on a sheared siezed one via a mobile welder). You pay postage and to make things mor...

£100 an hour for skilled labour We live in very different worlds if you think £100 an hour is a reasonable hourly wage for any human being to earn. Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

What size is the actual bolt Shaf? I recall you said 19mm head which usually equates to an M12? No. Had it double checked by the Mini Restoration guy who was trying to find me a suitable tap. Definitely a 14mm with a 19mm head. It's off a Lexus LS430 which (the predecessor LS400 was about 10 years ...

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

9mm you say Wotsits. I'm already too far gone beyond that now. The 9.5mm grinder is now a loose fit in there and mot got the calipers (measuring) in there but I'd say I'm at about 11mm hole size now. Maybe shortly I'll let out a few yelps of relief - Alhamdulillah - that the threads have started fal...

Found it (I think) https://youtu.be/i-CoFEPy9aY?si=QaqaLPMoZTy8Augm Seems like the ones on the Ridgid website don't ho up to 14mm wotsits. But I could be wrong. I'd resigned myself to needing to just contact Tracy tools and purchase the appropriate tap. At work today earning my £150 but yesterday wh...

Thanks so much for all them links there Wotsits :-bd I'll check em over. If you do use one of those carbide files, make sure to wear some goggles as the swarf can go everywhere. Also have a search how to use them as they ideally need to be used at a high rpm. These are better than the tapered type ...

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

Shaff - get a dremel (cheapo ebay copy in any case) and try to grind out as much of the bolt as you can before have a go with a tap. In fact if you are careful and very patient, you might be able to get enough out to pick the threads of the bolt out without tapping - even if you can get the first b...

Re: WTD: 27.5 boost rear wheel

Can you make a Hope Pro 2 EVO into boost tru axle. If so then I have a nice carbon (or is it black Kinlin) wide rim. On PRO EVO2 (actually, might be 4) and nice lightweight Sapim spokes. Currently on wither Shimano or DT ratchet drive freehub.
