Re: What you done t' your bike today

Picked up a free frame from Facebook last week 😃 On-one codeine 27.5 without a shock. The spare shock I had in the garage was the right fittings, but significantly shorter. Thought I'd give it a go anyway, so built the bike up with stuff from the garage/my snapped Jamis. Ended up very happy with the...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

I saw all the banana industries posts so had a look at their site... Was about to order various stuff, and then had a look at where they are - turns out I go past their back wall on my way home. Called in this afternoon, and it's an Aladdin's cave of crazy stuff! Loads of lamps and other shiny stuff...

Of course. I don't know if it works, but you're welcome to give it a go. It was on a frame I got, and immediately swapped for a cable dropper to match my other bikes. Message me your address and I'll get it sent ASAP.

Free stuff

I'm having a clearout of the garage.... Which accidentally caused me to build up 2 bikes from the spares (a brakeless BMX and a reduced travel extra slack version of an on-one codeine) so now I've even less space! First off, and there will be plenty more to come here, are the free bits. Collect from...

Re: WTD: drivetrain stuff

I've got a Aerozine X-one crankset in black, can be either 170 or 175mm as it's got adjustable inserts. Spider less 32 narrow wide ring. Very little use - came on the stooge but all the bikes in the house use shimano cranks with bolt on rings so I swapped them out. Fit a normal 73mm Shimano BB. http...

Extraordinarily unlikely to be asked for proof, but surely a credit card with a large enough limit to cover this person day is good enough anyway? I vaguely recall being asked for similar going into the USA years ago, and showing a bank statement and credit card was enough.

Pretty hefty though, I've got one in the drawer but never actually needed to use it yet! If you're near Sheffield you're welcome to give it a go

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Today's bike tinkering was the first step in weight reduction/minimalist gearing on the road bike... Been running 34-50 with an 11-25 cassette for ages, but never felt quite right (too many front shifts needed) was thinking of switching back to 39-53 with 12-30 or 11-28 cassette. I then spotted a de...

First shorts and vest run of the year today... Blowing a gale, but still warm enough to be without sleeves for all other than a 2 minute shower where the jacket went on. Up on Derwent edge, above laybower reservoir. Long, fairly speedy climb up to back tor (about 6km of nearly all uphill) and then I...

I built my now 10, but then 9 years old, daughter a bike around an XS trek 26" frame - you can get nice older complete bikes for very little on eBay, and then some garage raiding added a 1*10 deore groupset and some avid brakes... She seems very happy with it, and I don't expect to loose much m...

Re: Wild Country Zephyros Compact 2 Tent Opinions Please

I've got the smaller zephyros 1 and love it... I was annoyed to miss out on the 2 which was for sale here recently. I tend to use it as my scout leading tent, so for hiking with or just grabbing out of the boot. A 2 would be lovely and spacious for just me, and would give me space for the dog (or on...

Excellent good Samaritan work dave! Today's ride was on the nice ti summer road bike (rim brakes, no guards, skinny slick tyres etc.) Over in Manchester with my wife & son, so ride back home seemed a decent option! Left after the rain had stopped, took the hilly way out south of Stockport, via a...

Did my club Monday night race today (there's an option to run it alone and send a time in before Thursday ends), with a short run either side to/from the car. Straight up the side of kinder scout, long speedy descent and then a speedy traverse back to the finish. Decided there wasn't enough hill, so...
