Re: Routes for skinnier tyres. Or not.

I rode the trans Pennine trail a couple of years ago, from Southport to Hornsea, and that was a nice mix of road and easy trails. You could then return by a mixture of train and other trails or even by the way of the roses route?

Or even better an old type 25.0 USE titanium post with a shim - noticeably flexy and comfy compared to any other post I've used other than a bouncy one...

They look nice - very like an on-one fleegle with a loop, but surely you'd put the light on the front extension otherwise there would be some interesting shadows?

I collected from the warehouse to save a few quid... but it was a parcel! Sale bargains from Polaris. Waterproof shorts, gloves for my dad (sadly a bit small for me), lovely knee warmers, merino stripy socks and some foot oil. The oil was free with the socks but is great.

Marin Gestalt 2

Hi, I'm looking at getting one of these bikes on cycle to work - seen them at £500. There's not many reviews online and they all look like the same one slightly re-done. I was wondering if anyone here has a Marin Gestalt at all and could offer advice? It'd be to replace my beat-up planet x kaffenbac...

I'll give this a good go please - but away from home until tomorrow so can't give a start weight. Aiming for 80kg, and feeling comfy in 32" jeans but needing 34" for the legs rather than the belly again! :-bd

Re: tent users, what do you use?

I've been using a Coleman Rigel x2 for the last few years. Very light and compact, but prone to plenty of condensation as it's single skin. Just bought a wild country zephyros from here, which is heavier but taller, two layers and generally probably better for most uses I hope! The Rigel is great if...

Re: Hope, in The Peak...

Plenty of decent spots near hope. I'd be tempted to get the train back from another station, maybe chinley or Marple bridge, to make for a more interesting ride. If you're planning a short ride to a bivvy spot, just inside the forest to the North West of Win hill is good but I bet there are hundreds...

While not in keeping with the whole idea of "a month", I'm hoping to do a "bivvy a season 2018" with my 4 year old in tow. Probably taking a fairly loose view of when winter stops, but hoping to get it done... Should be some interesting photos of a bike + tagalong with bike packi...

Knog party Frank lock is my light choice. I doubt it's very secure, but it rolls up small and is a brightly coloured visual deterrent.

Pedros tulio user here - mini tool built into the rear axle qr. Never had to use it for anything serious, but give for little jobs. A bit more fiddly than getting one or of a bag, but saves space. Might pick up some of those tiny pliers though, sounds handy. Also carry a little pump and/or CO2, a tu...

True. So we should all be taking the kids out in the wilds with us then? Absolutely! Main reason I volunteer for Duke of Edinburgh award scheme at school is to get kids into the outdoors. Last year, we had 16 girls and 4 boys on the bronze award, and equal numbers at silver so there is some progres...
