Did you note where I said mount the mudguard over (instead of under) the bridge.

Re: 29+ suspension forks with clearance for 3.0” tyres

Had similar issue with DHF 4.8 in Bluto, so modified my mudhugger to fit over the bridge - 2 small cut outs. Not especially pretty but works fine! The side lugs still cable tie to the fork legs fine.

(You still won't get a DHF 29x3 in a Bluto though, not enough clearance even without a mudguard)

Jacket fit is as expected; roomy enough for a layer beneath. I look forward to a test ride.
Is Vapour same fit as Enduro? I have vapour already, love it although a fold away hood would be nice, I can't ignore an Enduro at £15 though!

Re: If you were to buy a E bike ??

You know how great fat bikes are Tony... Having ridden (hired) both E-FS and E-fat, I'd take the latter. They are very fun with a bit of assistance. I like building bikes and dislike the whole off the shelf £5,000+ thing with meh components, crap reliability and constant warranty and getting strande...

Dropper post is worth it for the (what, 200?) gates alone!

Descending out of the saddle with your knees as suspension will save your ass!

Re: Full suss vs rigid 29plus

Hmm, road background and arse pounding, 30psi etc ... You are descending out the saddle aren't you?

Dropper? That plus proper pressures should do wonders.

FWIW I'd go rigid single speed; forces me off to walk regularly which helps over such a long ride too.

Re: Something on telly

Great prog, lovely chap in a fantastic part of the world. Have had idle musings about doing similar. I don't know about Scotland but down here you can't even buy a patch of woodland or similar and live on it for more than 28 days, let alone rock up on somebody's huge estate. I imagine it's actually ...

Re: Fat bike mudguard

Another here, great combo.

Can just squeeze a 4.4 JJ or 4.8 Minion on a Bluto under the front one (inc mud clearance but need to cut the front lip off with a woodsaw!). 4.8JJ would be too tall though I think.

FatHugger is the front one and yeah a 29er rear fits nicely, I didn't need heat. If you go the rack route it also fits with a (modified - widened) Thule Tour rack on the seat stays as well, great combination.

Re: OOF tyre clearance

Mate has Fatty Trail with a 4" in there atm and will have a look at clearance tonight. I can defo recommend the 4.4's over the 4.0 if you have a nice wide rim. More grip not much more rolling res, and fatter is alright right eh!

Smokescreen frame is v similar geo to my Chinese carbon fatty which I love for both trail riding and fatpacking. If they were 197 rear I'd have one of these as well, bargin!

Twas me mentioned importing and not being able to edit. I can see how to edit the name and type of ride, but can't edit the route (gpx track created on bikehike) at all! Looks like I'll need to re-create it from scratch. - Open OS Maps - Click Routes at top - Click My Routes - Find your route then ...

Re: Why Did I Sell My Stooge Bars Again? WTD

Got a once used Ritchey Kyote to offload Allen. Again, wide, sweepy, riser. Like an OG but wider.

I'm settled on the OG for fatpacking (v. comfy) and the Moto for trail riding (wide for control). I thought the Kyote might do both but it didn't work for me.

I feel guilty now Allen  If I hadn't fitted them yesterday (yes, above your old Bluto) then I would have sold them back. Possibly.

FWIW These replaced a previous set I had and sold when I shouldn't have.

I switch between a Rab Vital, excellent light wind shirt, and the slightly heavier/thicker Borealis depending conditions. Both breathable and showerproof and neither were expensive.

I'm UK shoe 9. five ten freerider also a 9, I'll check the Shimano's out when home in a bit. Pretty sure I went 9.5 to take thick socks and allow circulation.
