Re: WTD: ancient MTB stuff

Cheers Bobcat.

I actually joined retro bike after picking up the bike. I’ve yet to strip the frame but I’ll need a new drivetrain probably, seatpost and some klunker style bars.

Re: What £2K gravel bike...

Have you seen the new Decathlon range? A lot of bang for your buck.

If you like steel bikes the Brother Kepler is a very good looking but tad expensive option.

Re: WTD: ancient MTB stuff

Ha! You did better than me. Mine was a Halfords Apollo Atomic GT which had a total rip off of the spesh livery. I saved up and got a Saracen Eiger in 1994 though.

WTD: ancient MTB stuff

I’ve just picked up a very cheap and very knackered Specialized Hardrock from 1988. Intention is to get it to a state where I can ride it and see how bad it is on the routes I ride compared to my Brother Big Bro given I used to ride very similar similar bikes when I was a kid and have loads of fun. ...

Re: Big Agnes tent experts......

I have the copper spur UL2 (non Bikepacking specific) and it’s great for two people as there are two doors and vestibules. It’s very light but a tad bulky as the poles fold to about 42cm. Worth the premium for the bikepack version mainly because you get more options as to what part of the bike you p...

Re: Missing the simple life.

I did a two day Bikepacking event at the weekend and have struggled to get much done this week. Just daydreaming about the next trip and sleeping under the stars. It’s the life for me.

Re: 27.5+ wheels for my Big Bro

I’ve got hope fortus on my Big Bro. Nice wheels but a tad heavy. With your budget I’d go handbuilt - Hope hubs with some lighter rims. I’ve just had a set of gravel wheels built by Spokesman that are absolutely superb FWIW.

Re: Harnesses that play nice with a Jones bar

Thanks all.

I’m open to a roll type all in one so the sweet roll is appealing although there is no uk stock and I need it for early June.

It’s for carrying a sleeping bag primarily as my bag takes up almost all of my Carradice saddle bag.

Harnesses that play nice with a Jones bar

Hello. Can I ask what people are doing in this regard? Seems to me that the ideal option for a roll / harness for the Jones bar would be to have 4 straps to secure to the upper / lower part of the loop. Not many manufacturers show photos of their bags with loop bars - wildcat do but I’m really put o...
